Better than steel/plastic combs for catching/killing fleas
You know how difficult it is to catch and kill the fleas that you've combed out of the cat with a regular steel-tooth flea comb, right? You just can't get that comb into the soapy-water glass fast enough, right? And good luck running your fingernail over the comb fast enough to squish and pop them before they jump off and back onto the cat, or onto you.Well, with this Bamboo flea comb, even the teeth are made of bamboo, which means they are absorbent, like raw wood is, which means you can do what I do… Spray your favorite cat-friendly flea spray onto the comb (or soak it with a cotton ball) and comb the fleas out...watching them die on contact with the soaked comb tines. (or at least slow them down and make them wobbly enough to catch and squish/pop) Just be sure to use a flea spray that you can also spray directly onto your cat. There's a lot of scary stuff out there, and I would not put that stuff on this comb. I only coat one of the tine sides with the pesticide, and I hold onto the other unsoaked side. You might want to use a plastic glove on the previously soaked side when you're ready to swap it around to use the other side due to eventual tine breakage. This spray method does not work well on steel-tooth or plastic flea combs, because they can't absorb it, it just runs off them, (I keep wiping it with a cotton ball every couple of times I run it through the hair) but it works great on the bamboo-tine ones, I learned this trick back in the 70's and 80s when I was a show cat exhibitor, when the bamboo combs were more commonly available. The bamboo tines WILL break eventually, so be aware of that, and treat them gently. That's why I bought two of these and I'm very glad they are double-sided. I will buy a few more for back up, now that I know they exist again. Shipping does take a while, about a month, because it does ship from China. (in the meantime, keep wiping those steel/plastic combs with pesticide every few passes through the coat)
