Really great album, I've listened to it scores of times
The music is interesting, but of course the main attraction is WSB's intriguing voice and the amazing things he says: both his own words, and selections from the Bible that sound great even to an atheist like me. Why not consider the lilies of the field? The final track is WSB singing Falling in Love Again in the original German to piano accompaniment. The experience is both grand and visceral, like ancient Greek drama.

I prefer the "forgive us our trespasses" version of the Lords Prayer...
If you are going to buy a Burroughs CD; I got my first copy of this in high school, so sentimental value aside, I would recommend you start your WSB CD collection with this one or the one he made with Disposable Heroes... I think it was Spare Ass Annie: I have not heard it, but c'mon... how could a Franti/Burroughs collaboration disappoint?

Excellent Recording
I really love this cd. William Burroughs is one of my favorite writers of the beat movement. Not only is his strange, monotone voice recorded very well on this cd, there's a great soundtrack to accompany him. He reads selections from the Naked Lunch and many of his other works, with background effects and music that is dark and twisted enough to match his strange awesome writings. Each track is interesting, from his surreal 'cut-up' style to dialogues on dictators and poems about the apocalypse. This whole cd is just great. I recommend this to any fan of Burroughs, or someone who just wants a really strange cd to put on when under the influence of certain plants and chemicals.

Insane wife killin' Beat writing golden voice gross story teller
William S. Burroughs / Dead City Radio: I have a few Burroughs CDs but I do very few reviews of them. His voice is fascinating, but the man went completely insane after he killed his wife and finished off the rest of his sanity with drugs. That is when he started writing, so his stories are very interesting. His voice is a drug. Language is a virus.Dead City Radio is one of his best CD's (at least, the best that can actually be called HIS). Five Stars, not recommended.

excellent
When beat writer William S. Burroughs reads his doom soaked Dead City prose over dense orchestrations, the combination is powerful.Slow, nasal, articulate, surreal, Burroughs voice and prose make for an amazing contrast over the Bernard Herman-esque composition, and Dead City Radio comes off as noir on acid. You can listen to the excellent visual prose for meaning, or just as sound. Either way, this is excellent in music, sound, and literature.

Burroughs was better singing with T. Waits!

Wonderful
This is my favorite of the Burroughs musical albums. The excerpt from Naked Lunch is amazing - would love to hear him narrate the entire thing!-greg frohring

Greetings from Interzone made audible......
Wow! From the moment the CD opens to its finish you're in Burroughs-Ville : so welcome, Agent Lee..........As both a lover of music and literature it is rare to find many good cross-over / hybrids of these two forms but this works well, with some great sympathetic musical soundscapes such as William's Welcome to the sonic youth penned 'Dr. Benway's House' which is creepy and perfect. My personal favourite is 'Kill The Badger', a piece of pure Burroughs, mixing the humour and the horror up nicely, cleverl, cool and ultimately nihilistic.Perfect tnen if you're a fan of Bill's and / or love your music slightly bent out of shape in the Zone......
