Works, if you have the right air vents.
I originally ordered this mount because I've never really been a fan of suction mounts. After looking at all the other vent mounts, this one seemed to be the best for me. I like it and it works like it's supposed to. It holds my phone securely in both horizontal or vertical position. The main thing I noticed with it that I didn't like is that the piece that goes into the vent feels flimsy. The actual locking mechanism works fine, but the "arm" the locking mechanism is on feels flimsy. The other thing I noticed with it is that it seems to work better if your air vents are at an angle. The air vents on my GMC Envoy are lined up straight with the dash, so the mount points down because the two "legs" on the bottom don't have anything to rest on unless I tilt the vent down. I was able to tilt the mount itself up and am happy with how it looks.EDIT: I will also add that the horizontal slots on my vent don't go too far back, only about a 1/4". This also contributes to why I have to tilt it down.

Falls juuuust short of great
Great concept for a hands-free device! I'm glad I decided to buy this over a few other car cell phone mounts, the additional support provided by the brace in the front below the vent really keeps your phone steady. The clip will work on, I would think, any air vent. The clip has a spring action adjuster that you hold open all the way until you position the clip under a vent bar, then you release the clip and it is then securely clipped to the vent. The mount also extends, with a decent amount of force, to fit various phone widths. I have an iPhone 6 and I have to open the width about 3/4" inch greater than its unadjusted width (would hold an iPhone 4) and it seems like it would open further to fit the iPhone 6 plus (or a Samsung Galaxy note or whatever). I was really in like with this mount, until I went to put my phone in it after 2 days and it wasn't on the vent! What happened? I don't know, I guess maybe I pulled too hard when removing my phone, I don't remember yanking on it, but I found it on the floor of my car and when I went to secure it to my vent, I noticed the back part of the clip that competes the hold to the vent bar was broken. <insert sad face>. For $10, I'll probably buy a new one, maybe see if there's a more sturdy (probably expensive) version to where the clip can take at least a little abuse. No way it should break that easily, I'm no Hulk. So yeah, great concept with the brace for support and the extending clip and holder, but needs to be stronger in the clip.

Didn't Work for Me
Maybe how well this works depends on how your car is designed. I guess a "universal" design is kind of a pipe dream. At first I was pretty excited about this, the grippy part that holds the phone does a good job, the phone does not slip and can grip quickly and easily. There is a ball joint you can use to rotate the phone in different directions. The issue is putting it on the vent. There is a little hook in the back you extend to fit behind the back of the vent lever and then release so it clips onto it with tension and doesn't fall off into the floor. The problem is, in my vehicle, the back part of the vent levers are made from a soft plastic, softer than the front, flush part. Because of this, once you apply the tension to the hook to hold the device on there securely, that soft plastic will flex and collapse and the whole vent will close and the mount just flops around loosely. It doesn't drop the phone, but it doesn't allow you to see anything on your phone or keep it in one location so it becomes pretty useless. The box it was packaged in was hilarious, "...fix on the Automobile cold steam outlet...can be quickly installed in automobile cooling steam outlet".

Finally, something perfect for my needs.
I've been through quite a few phone holders and have been disappointed with all of them. Some of it is the product's fault, and some of it is due to having a hard time making it work with my car. I have a 2004 Honda Accord, which has a fairly steep angled center AC vent - so if i use a regular, run of the mill clip on, the phone points upward, and i can't see anything when the light reflects off of it.This holder is well made, thoughtful and does the job for my car handsomely. When i adjust it, it stays in place. When i turn it to the angle i need it to be at, it turns. The phone (i have a LG G3) is secure and doesn't shake or rattle - almost looks like it's part of the dash itself, it's so solid. I couldn't be happier. I rarely give 5 stars, but this really deserves it. No complaints, worth every penny and more. Highly recommend.

Best value for the money
great value for the money. It holds the I phone 6 and my Samsung Galaxy 5 very snugly. little or no rattle. We have 2 one in Mazda CX7 which we leave up all the time as it not in the way at all. The other is in the Honda CRV which is barely a figures width from the windshield wiper control so we take it off when not in use. But it works well when in use. This not a issue for us as its so easy to attach and remove unlike other models with suction cups which are hard to remove and progressively harder to replace as the cup surface gets dirty and looses suction.Customer service is great we managed to break one and they immediately refunded our money and we bought a new one to replace it.

Small, but mighty!
Great little phone clip; sturdy vent attachment and very strong grip on the phone, even my Note 4 with bulky case fits securely. Also, the slim design won't block you phone's buttons and jacks. The grip on this clip is very strong, so your phone stays put, but it may be hard for some to remove the phone. Also, the extending grip can pinch you in the gap between the arms when extended, be careful when removing phone. If you have a big phone that other clips won't fit or can't hold securely, this cradle will do the job well.
