RUFF RUFFDW1 Dog whistle Bundle with Lanyard, Presentation Box and 5 Dog Training ebooks

Misleading.
They should stop marketing these whistles as a way to stop your dog barking unnecessarily. It is a training whistle and if your dog is already grown and into this habit, trying to train him with a whistle is not going to work.Maybe the dog whisperer could pull this off, but for a regular dog owner, forget it.I gave it 3 stars because it probably works well to train a young dog - I am just saying they need to make that clear in their blurb.By the way, all of these type of whistles are marketed in this way, so RUFF is not alone. To their credit they do send you 4 or 5 free downloadable books on how to train your dog, but it really only applies to puppies.

I like this whistle but don't love it
I like this whistle but don't love it, yet. I may change this review later. I bought it a week ago for my Miniature Schnauzers and their excessive barking. (The doorbell is a mortal enemy!)It is not a silent whistle. I thought it was from other reviews, but it's not. It is high pitched but it isn't silent. The box is cute if you're into dog whistle boxes. It does stay on the lanyard and I haven't lost the whistle yet, but I haven't walked around a lot with it around my neck.My dogs have been 50/50 on responding to it. One of my dogs loses his mind when he's after a squirrel. He's been harder to train. I have been trying other frequencies but in all honesty they pretty much sound the same to my ears. Maybe to a dog they're different.I'm not so crazy as to believe that blowing the whistle one time will make my dogs instantly better behaved. It's a process and I know it's a process. So far the whistle has lived up to it's end of the bargain. I just have to put more effort into training them. The whistle can't do that for you, so if you're expecting a miracle right out of the cute little box you'll be disappointed.I think if you purchase this whistle knowing you have to work to train your dogs with it you won't be disappointed.

I wish it would've worked for me
I bought this in order to keep 2 loud, rowdy, playful but cute puppies. They are a mix of Maltese and Terrier. Initially, I bought this in order to avoid having to use those no bark collars that would hurt them. I love the concept because it wouldn't hurt the puppies but still stop them from doing any kind of wrongdoings and barking. My neighbor already left me a note complaining about how my "animals" are loud. However, despite the awesome concept and adorable container, this product did not work for me. Even when I changed the frequencies; the puppies were still loud and rowdy and didn't even stop. They just relentlessly continued to wreck havoc in my apartment. I still give the company a thumbs up for making this product though.

Did not work for me
Well, it seems to be just a whistle. I thought it would have some sort of magical effect on my dogs. NOPE. I tried adjusting the whistle to get different sounds and I could not tell the difference. I think if you purchase this when you have a puppy, it would be better. Like anything else when training a dog, you must 'condition' your dog with repetition and treats. Seems you could use any whistle for this. I wish it would have come with some sort of teaching material, like a DVD? It came with a piece of paper that had some ideas on it...My dogs are 3 years old and 6 months old, and it had no effect on them. Maybe if I dedicated hours and hours of time with it?

Great whistle
I bought this hoping to break barking. Have 3 rescues & one hates large birds & goes nuts seeing or hearing them. Yelling doesn't work & read reviews so decided to try. First day it worked great. Stopped immediately & hoped it would've that easy. Nope as today heisignoring me. I have to be consistent and hopefully with alittle more work it will stop him. Have used for calling dogs tome with a different whistle sound & treating & working well. So I am very pleased & so nice not to yell. Agree with others, very nice well made & nice case. One point be sure & lock when you find where you want it as it can come unwound & part fall off.

This whistle worked great for our dogs
This whistle worked great for our dogs. We have a chia-pom and a rescued toy poodle and my parents, who live with us, have 2 mini schnauzers, one a previously abused rescue. My chia-pom and their two are barkers, especially their rescue, and his bark hits a tone that will curl your toes. After one day, they stopped. I let them bark once to let me know someone is at the door, then all I have to do now is show them the whistle. This has changed our life. The little schnauzer rescue did camp out in his crate for a day, scared but the door was open and we went in and gave him treats and got him out and he figured out that the whistle wasn't bad. Leftovers from his past...we always have to be careful with him.

Didn't work with my problem dog.
I have neighbors in the back with an overly aggressive lab/other mix. Whenever I am working in my yard and the neighbors aren't out back to watch the dog it goes wild barking at me and jumping at the fence. I have talked to the neighbors about it who will bring the dog inside if they hear the dog barking. I bought this whistle hoping to startle the dog and make him stop barking. But no matter at what frequency I set the whistle it doesn't stop the dog from barking, but instead seems to infuriate it even more. So for my situation it didn't work.It is a well made product, hopefully it will work on other dogs.

Falls apart. Repeatedly.
It was pretty disappointing to try it out and have my dog race to my side and then have the whole thing fall apart. In my pocket the first time. So I put it back together and this time my dog completely ignored the whistle. And it fell apart again. This time out side in the leaf covered yard. I called Bentley by name and he came to me albeit slooowly. I will never use one of these "dog whistles" again.Speaking of this, I always thought a dog whistle was supposed to be heard only by the dog. This one blew my eardrums out with the first whistle. That's probably why Bently came running to my side. To see if I was dead!
