a vintage curio cabinet showcasing various divinatory techniques
Kiki Dombrowski’s A Curious Future: A Handbook of Unusual Divination and Unique Oracular Techniques is like a vintage curio cabinet showcasing various divinatory techniques to help you gain clarity on the future. Some of the techniques will be familiar, but many will be surprisingly new – at least they were to me. The book contains everything from scrying into wine to handwriting analysis to runes to dream interpretation to lithomancy to cheese divination to dice rolling to ogham to tea leaf reading to omens and superstitions. But there’s also so much more packed into this little book. Dombrowski’s writing style is very accessible meaning anyone who picks it up is sure to be able to follow along regardless of experience level.A Curious Future is a smaller book coming in at about 120 pages. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book being completely unfamiliar with the author, but decided to take a chance on it due to the description and the insanely cute cover. I’m glad I did because I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. However, the vast scope of the techniques provided that the author covers versus the time she spends on each of them was a bit brief, though discusses each just enough to ensure that you can successfully employ them yourself. She could probably expand each chapter into individual books – and I would love to see larger books by her in the future. One of the things I found myself really appreciating about A Curious Future is that Dombrowski cites all of her sources and has a good sized bibliography and recommended reading list if you do want to dive deeper into the topics she covers. Despite all of this, the book is a quick read and serves as a fantastic crash course on various divination methods and instructions for those who are still learning to divine, yet still provides gems of interesting divination techniques that most seasoned diviners are probably completely unfamiliar with.

Amazing Collection of Divination Practices
A Curious Future is my new favorite divination book. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is interested in gaining or expanding their knowledge of oracular arts. Kiki does an amazing job at highlighting a wide range of divination techniques, some of which are completely new to me. She gives readers an upfront and detailed overview, allowing them the opportunity to further research any particular area on their own. From scrying, to numerology, to shell divination, this book covers it all! A must have!

so many typos were a bummer
It isn't a bad little book and the info is concisely presented... but I guess I was really thrown out by allllllllll the many typos. It was kind of jarring to find so many in the first chapter or two and after that, I found myself just completely disconnecting from the topic, and I got out my red pen to correct all the mistakes instead of enjoying the reading

Perfect
There's an amazing breadth of information here--and all of it has just enough detail! I especially love the section on kitchen divination! An amazing book for anyone who is fond of tarot, runes, and/or any form of scrying.

Inaccurate.
Wish I would’ve listened to the review. Not for people who aren’t beginners at Wicca. Most of this book the author slapped together via research before producing it she even admits. A lot of typos, unedited. Very unorganized and misleading. Makes it seem like there’s only 1 way to practice things and doesn’t put the importance on intentions and how practices vary. Just says “this is what I do” and doesn’t say why or what they represent. Don’t buy!!!

Diamond in the Rough
Recently purchased this book at a New Orleans event. I am not new to divination yet, Kiki managed to teach me unknown methods. It is very hard to impress me yet, this little gem was magnificent. Well researched, well written and yet - amazingly simply stated. Brief yet concise information that - simply put - lures you to want to try methods not tried before. Why? Answer: none of the methods are over analyzed (at least in this book), drawn out and over complicated with literary content. It simply states what it is and how to do it. The practice of the various methods are on you. This will forever be in my beloved, highly referenced and personally used library. Permit me to say that I have a very advanced library and generally do NOT review books because I believe the content of a book and how it relates to you and your practice is deeply personal. Yet those that know me will stand at full alert at this review because I am not one to write a review. Please obtain this title while you can - as any true practitioner can learn SOMETHING form this little diamond in the rough - Lilly
