In 1950, Red Wing Shoes introduced boot style 854, crafted with distinctive Red Russet leather which inspired the Irish Setter name. Irish Setter became the premier boot brand for generations of hunters and workers by proving itself in the field and on the job site. Today, more than 100 years of Red Wing work boot experience, combined with the over 60-year legacy of Irish Setter outdoor footwear, results in purpose-built Irish Setter footwear for the modern craftsman and avid hunter.

Love 'em
This is my second pair of these boots. I purchased my first pair at a local shoe store. Said shoe store no longer carries them, nor do any others in the area, so I had to track these down on Amazon then wait for them to be in stock. That's how satisfied I am with them.I deliver appliances for a living. My first pair lasted about 3.5 years of near-daily use. I managed to squeeze another 6 months out of them before they were unwearable as winter work boots. I did not oil them regularly like I'm supposed to. I think I only oiled them twice in the time I had them. Now, if you're in the construction field or something similar, I'd expect them to last about 2, MAYBE 3 years if they're actually taken care of and maintained. The toes are extremely sturdy and have saved my feet on multiple occasions. I've dropped every appliance known to man on them, and put a lift gate on them a few times. Not even a dent. Hell, the leather never even ripped. As for the soles, I have feet and back issues. Every time I purchase a new pair of shoes, I also have to purchase a new pair of Dr Scholls insoles. Every pair, that is, except for these bad boys. They were comfortable right out of the box, which is why I put in the effort of buying a second pair.My only complaint is that holes began to wear behind the toes where the upper flexes when I walk. But, I'm still giving them the 5 star because that's likely due to me not oiling them like I should have.

Good Boots
I bought these boots last April, and have been wearing them for work since. I'm a field service technician, so boots are my lifeblood. After a week's worth of 14 hour shifts, the last thing you need is a new blister to go with your overtime pay. I can say these boots are very comfortable and fit as I expected they would. I wear a 13 medium, and some boot manufacturers have weird ideas about what medium is. Not these bad boys. They protect my feet and are generous enough for me to wear 2 layers of wool socks in the winter, but tight enough that my feet aren't moving around with just thinner boots socks in the summer. The leather seems to hold up well, with typical scuffs and scrapes around the toe area. I kneel a lot for my work, so the toe area of any boot I own takes a beating. But after nearly a year, I have yet to see any metal from the steel toe showing. In fact, my only disappointment, and the reason these boots get 4 stars instead of 5, is that the tread on the soles has worn out sooner than I'd hoped. Usually, the soles just crack before the tread wears completely out. While these boots have never cracked, and no water has ever entered them, the soles wearing thin and soft on the bottom is a concern after only 10 months of wear. You'd think that for the price I paid in 2013 ($175), the soles would have held up better. Now it seems they are somewhat less expensive now ($134 beginning of Feb 2014). For that price, I could give it 5 stars. But I didn't pay that price, so my rating stands.

So Far, Awesome!
Received the product about 1 week after ordering. Size is a perfect fit...I was really worried about that because depending on the company, my size will differ. Using Bates Safety boots for the last 9 years (New pair every year) and wearing a size 12 wide, I ordered these in 12 EE. I was so happy with the fit. A bit heavier but breaking in rather nicely. If they last 2 years or more (Like I'm led to believe from co-workers), I will be very happy. Even though these boots are not a side zipper type, very easy to put on and take off. I will update if any issues come up...if everything remains great, as expected, no update will be needed.Thank you Amazon!

prefect fit
The boots fit great and help support my bad knees. I'm on my feet on concrete 16 hours a day. I am disappointed in the loop that you pull your boot on with. As I stated the boots fit great and are not a struggle to put on. With very little pull the loop stitching was torn and no longer useable. I did expect better for $200 boots.

Not worth it
There's better for less money. I heard red wing were the best so I pulled the trigger. Went to the red wing store near me to get sized and purchase new boots. The same boots were forty dollars more in the store so I saved some buy buying online. I'm going on eight months wearing this boot and the inside liner is separating away from the boot. I would rather purchase 2 sets of good boots for the price of one of these. My opinion is they aren't worth the hype.

Durable boot.
These boots took me no time to break in. I work in these 12 hours per day and walk mainly on concrete with stairs and ladders. Quite often these boots are wading through water/chemical up to the ankle and they have always kept me dry. Very comfortable, no sign of stitches failing. Very nice and light for such a solid work boot. Best boot i've had thus far. Will likely be ordering these again.

Sadly disappointed after years of buying this same boot
I normally use a pair throughout a year, I've had 3-4 pairs over the last 3-4 years and has been great. This last pair though at only 15 days in is already falling apart. The stitching has come loose both boots and the inner soul will not stay inside the boot taking it off. Hohnestly this has been my worst experience with this brand for the first time after all these years. I attached some pictures to show the stitches coming free. Overall I won't buy these again from now on, sadly disappointed for the first time

Just a bit too large, great buy
I bought this pairs in replacement of an Ariat pairs I bought in last December. My 1st time to try the 2E size, a bit too large( the high not the wide) but not bother me at all. Compared to the last 3 pairs that I got in less than 2 years (Caterpillar, Thorogood and Ariat) This pair by far the best fit, better on slippery resistant then other 3. I work on a big CNC machine that I have to walk onto the machine. That where the oil and water are always present and in the way. this pair is really out perform the other 3. So please with this purchase

Leather Quality is Poor
I have worn Redwing boots for work for a number of years and have always found them to be of very good quality however, the pair i recently bought have suffered unacceptable wear from the first day of wearing them, under normal working conditions the leather in the toe has worn nearly through to the aluminium toe cap, i have only had them for two weeks and the toes are cut to shreds, again, this is under normal working conditions, given the very high price i paid for these boots i am extremely disappointed with the poor quality of the leather, i will not be purchasing any more in the future.

Not worth the premium pricetag
Nice boot. Comfortable. But quite heavy and starting to show some pretty heavy wear after 3 months of light use.
