Wow, I really loved this story.
On the author's website he says he enjoys writing character-driven narrative and it shows in the quality of the work. http://www.caobooks.com/#!bio/c1ktjI'm not an overly emotional person (and desensitized) but this story made me laugh, feel sad, scared - a few scenes that I could relate to, angry, happy, and so much more.It covers a number of points of view, but they are all 'close' so you know what the character is thinking and it's easy to engage straight away. It's hard to write third person, close, and shift points of view but Christopher does it so well. Every scene works to move the plot forward, and revolves around a central idea, 'the Riverman'.The main character, Jonas, shines and the whole story pivots around him, with Moreland following closely. The story is like two spirals (Jonas and Moreland), moving around and around, faster and faster, until it tightens up at the end where it all comes together. The only time my interest lagged was during the diary scenes of Caroline (first person POV) which are clumped together about 3/4 of the way through - but this style of narrative is not something I'm fond of in any story. I skimmed it and believe many will enjoy these scenes as much as the rest of the story. I know though, when I read this book again, I'll read the diary entries. There were very few errors that I noticed overall and the story reads well enough I just breezed over them.I've bought Demon Flower and look forward to reading more from this author.

and loved it. Christopher Alan Ott is a great storyteller
I purchased Hollow, read it, and loved it. Christopher Alan Ott is a great storyteller. The struggle that Jonas Kirchner goes through after a childhood accident left me chills because I've been on frozen rivers and lakes as a child, and the thought of falling through the ice scared the hell out of me. But what Jonas witnesses after the tragic event gave me even more chills. Mr. Ott's detail and the way he characterizes his characters is a marvel. Not only does he suck you into the story but after a while you forgot you're reading a book. Can't wait for the next one. If you haven't read Chris's latest book, Demon Flower, get it also.

Horrific storyline with a simple ending
Plus: scary! Had me glance over my shoulders a couple of times while reading this at nightMinus: started a bit slow, the ending is a bit too simple and doesn't match the overall scariness of the Riverman, too many different characters that are sometimes a bit hard to remember, the chapters jump back and forth from 1 character and 1 timeline to the other, some typos and wrong names (e.g. Donald instead of Albert).

Spine Tingling Chiller
It had me from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down. I think I felt almost every emotion while reading this story. You couldn't help but feel for Jonas after his childhood accident and how it impacted him for the rest of his life. The ending caught me off guard but in a great way. If you're looking for a book to reel you in this is the book for you. I am a fan of King and Koontz and now Ott!!! Chris is an amazing writer and I can't wait to read his other books.

Another good read by Mr. Ott!
Creepy and fun read! Love anything by this author. Couldn't put it down. Good characters I could relate to and I appreciate the style in which Christopher Alan Ott writes. Smooth transition between the story's past and present,

Intriguing story!
After reading the earlier book, Saltar's Point, I was eager to read what was in store in this second book of Ott's. Again, this was a satisfying read. The storyline is intriguing and unnerving as it moves toward the unexpected ending. If it was the only option for survival, at what point would someone reach for evil? And, once chosen, could that choice be revoked? I was definitely lured in to consider possibilities.

A dear friend asked me to read this book and ...
A dear friend asked me to read this book and I was hesitant because I do not normally prefer thrillers. They scare me! I was hooked from the very first page and could not put it down until finished. Now it's haunting me a little, but it was totally worth it!

A truly remarkable read.....Horror at its finest.
I have just finished ready this fine offering from a truly talented young author. This is a highly recommended read especially for this time of the year. I cannot wait for Christopher's next effort and would not be surprised to see his books on a top selling list one day.
