These are cheap and very thick cords but the bungee material they are made of really does not have very much elastic memory. In other words, they will stretch quite a bit, but do not return to their original length with much force.I would say the maximum length is about 4 feet

Excellent cords! The elastic part is thick and strong. I used mine for a few months now to hold a tarp on a wood pile and theyhave held up great against the sun, rain, wind, and anything else out there. The color faded on the metal hooks but other thanthat, these are excellent excellent. I took a chance and bought 2 packs and so glad I did... yyyaaaaa.
