Oil & Acrylic: Pet Portraits (How to Draw & Paint) Paperback – December 15, 2012

Very large soft covered book with large beautiful pet pictures including dogs, cats, birds, horses, and rabbits. Nice oil and acrylic sketching and painting descriptions and instructions especially for coloring and painting fur and feathers and pets facial features. Uses a step by step approach but not quite as detailed as I would like. A good basic starter book.Doesn't include all the different breeds.

This is a great book that shows you how to draw animal portraits. If you feel you still lack the ability to drawing these animals, I recommend also buying the Walter Foster book, Trace and Color In Any Medium (Pets). This book offers templates of the same animals that are in Ms Gray's book. This book also comes with 4 sheets of graphite paper to aid your tracing of the animals. These two books work together beautifully and result in beautiful art work.

I like it a lot as the writer is painting in a way I like and would like to manage myself. Very good advice on how to paint fur and what colours to mix.

I LIKE THIS BOOK. IT HAS VERY GOOD INSTRUCTIONS AND EXAMPLES IN IT. THE ONLY THING I DID NOT LIKE ABOUT IS WAS THE SIZE. IT IS OVERSIZED AND HARD TO HOLD ON TOO AND STORE WITH MY OTHER BOOKS.

This was the best of the three animal portrait books I bought. It is closer to have your picture look like an actual dog (or pet). I guess I would have preferred all dogs since that's what I' interested in painting.

I haven't had the time to start trying to paint fur as yet. But I read the book and it explains and shows samples and pictures of how to do it that I know I will be able to do. I haven't done too much painting of fur; but I think this book will help me alot.

It wasn't what I was expecting. It's pages are large with color photos which is nice, but not a lengthy book by any means. But what I was disappointed with are the instructions. I needed more than what was provided.

I Tried a pet portrait and enjoyed doing it although I need much improvement so will enjoy the instruction here.

A lot of information in this book is covered in every other book you buy so there's nothing in it that hasn't been said before.The portraits that have been covered by the artist are also shown in more detail in the book "the art of painting animals" Collectors series... which is much more informative.

Some lovely step by step projects inside with large, clear pictures to follow and simple concise instructions regarding colour, the type of brush and how to apply. There is also a short section at the front about materials, techniques and how to paint fur, whiskers, eyes, noses etc for dogs and cats. I will definitely get another book in the series.

Nicley laid out. Arrived when it was meant to. Paper is of good quality and printed nice.This book is very flimsy and thin, the size is A3 which is larger than what is described.There are lots of animals in it, with step by step.Overal this book is okay.

Quick delivery and book in good condition. Book a little thinner than I thought it would be but is a valuable read.

This was bought as a present and although I was surprised at the size of the book it was just what I was looking for.
