Great intro for first-time visits to a new place!
Very handy, well-thought out little guide... really an essential aid in visiting a new country for the first time. My only quibble with the content is that there's rather a lot of repetition (between the "quick start" sort of looks, the "highlights" sections, and the more in-depth descriptions), which leads to a good bit of skimming and skipping, to get to new content. (Also--and this isn't a fault of the book--I'm finding that the Kindle version, alone, isn't entirely sufficient, particularly when it comes to trying to find something quickly; an actual book version would be handier. In future, I think I'll splurge and go in for both print and digital versions of such things, as one is easier on the fly, and the other better for general learning and planning purposes.) In all, though, a useful and fun tool. :)

The Perfect Guide for Stockholm!
I just got back from a trip to Stockholm and used this guide extensively. The layout and organization were very logical and it was fun to read. It is organized first by the "Top 10" sights in the city, which helped us prioritize our time during a 3 day visit. From there, it further breaks down the city into each neighborhood. For each neighborhood in the city center there is an introductory section describing the "vibe" of the neighborhood and the types of people that tend to live there, what it is known for, etc. Then, there are activity, shopping, and eating recommendations within that neighborhood. Also, and most importantly, there are recommended walks in each neighborhood that are of a manageable length and allow you to get a feel for what the area is like. This guide was short and had a very manageable length, but had all the detail and suggestions that we needed to explore the city confidently. I also liked that the size was small enough to carry in my rear jeans pocket, and the included map was detailed enough and extremely helpful!

Compact and useful for general ideas.
Nice little brief guide. I didn't actually use the book for any of their suggested itineraries, even though they sounded fine. I did use it to get an idea of the different areas of Stockholm to figure out where to book hotels. It was small enough to have in my back pack without weighing me down.

Would be great but errors in book.
This is a great little guide but has some serious errors which should be corrected. Just used 2 days and these were errors I found....there could be more. Regarding one of the most important sights in Stockholm Kungliga Slottet (the palace) they say the map is p 18. P 18 is merely a neighborhood shadow map which shows the neighborhoods of Stockholm. In actuality the map which includes this most important attraction is on page 29 (I had to work hard and waste time to find this). Another example, the Dansmuseet (dance museum) is featured in a lovely photo on page 43. Going to the Opera Square and finding that building, as featured on the page and the large city map included in the Guide, one finds that this was moved several years ago. Sure enough, in the book they do mention in the text that the museum has moved and give the correct location via the small map in the book but if one is using the large city map from the book as we were, a lot of time was wasted going to the wrong location.

This is a terrific pocket guidebook for Stockholm and surrounds
This is a terrific pocket guidebook for Stockholm and surrounds. I travel a lot overseas for work. I really only need most often while spending the weekend walking around town a just "the facts sort of pocket sized book". I must say this is well written and has a really good bit of info in "highlights format" for the traveler. I bought a comprehensive book for planning my time off but I will leave that one home. Too much weight to drag around. Very good map.

This was perfect for our trip to Stockholm
This was perfect for our trip to Stockholm. Everything is laid out clearly, it's sectioned out nicely, and it's a perfect size to carry with you when out and about - and since Stockholm is just a walking-friendly city, having something like this that was small and lightweight as a guide was vital. Would recommend this over the full Lonely Planet Sweden guide if just staying around Stockholm!

Never travel without a Lonely Planet Pocket book!
I will never travel without a Lonely Planet Pocket book. The size is great for carrying in your purse to consult for quick food & activity suggestions. So many of the food recommendations were excellent and affordable! I used the accommodations recommendations to book hostels & hotels before we traveled. I particularly LOVE the "Best of" selections. The attached maps also were so helpful. This book really made travel so easy and enjoyable.

Perfect for travel
These pocket guides are perfect for a trip -- they have just enough information to be helpful, but they're much easier to cart around and stow away. Lonely Planet always has the key things you need to know when traveling to a new place.

Good for basics, lacsk important travel info.
This was a good book for a long weekend in Stockholm, it had all the areas covered and good descriptions of where to go and the attractions in each one. The only weakness, which was prevalent throughout was the poor quality of the maps. streets were not named at all so trying to find directions was very difficult, in addition there was very little information re. travel. The tube map wasn't complete, getting the tram to the Vasa / Abba / Skansen was not even mentioned, and the other public transport systems were very badly detailed. I would recommend it for the sightseeing places but another book for any travel / general requirements.

Great little guide for those visiting
Great little guide for those visiting. I moved to Sweden a year ago and was hoping this would help me learn more about my new city. For my specific needs, I have found that the internet has more ideas. That said, if you are coming to Stockholm on vacation, this guide certainly covers all of the highlights of this beautiful city. It also fits nicely into a small purse.

Great travel guide
I love the pocket series, by split the city into separate parts and having a whole section for each part that is colour co-ordinatedto they make it very easy to find what you're looking for, also they have some pretty cool suggestions for stuff you would have never thought to look at.

Useful for a short stay
I don't think this brand is good for practicalities, like choosing accommodation. It's also too short for detail - but great if your time is limited, with several suggested short itineraries. The maps provided are also useful.
