Echo Valley 8106 10-Inch Glass Gazing Globe, Arco Iris

The globe was very nice, aside from a scratch on the top that I noticed. That's why I couldn't give it five stars. I've decided to keep it and avoid the return hassle. When you pay full price for an item you shouldn't get something with a flaw. Before it is sent out, I suggest taking it out of the box and looking it over carefully and you'll have a more satisfied customer! I recently experienced this same lack of quality checking from a non Amazon mail-order retailer and experienced the same complaint. Is it worth hoping the customer will not notice? I don't think so, if they decide not to do business with them again. Please do a better job of inspecting the product for shipment before it is packaged.

This ball replaced an old ball I bought at year end sale at Homedepot. I suspect it is same manufacturer. The other ball lasted at least 4 years before being broken by a falling object. It kept it's gleem and was clear with a slight pattern. Could not find the same ball so chose this. It is a striking color, well made but suffers from the same defect as the prior ball...the rubber (stinking Chinese rubber) is tight when you get it and falls off in a week. This time I decided to electrical tape it on. It is a water seal so I hope it does ot build up pressure. In their defense these are hand made so each nipple is a different size so they must have problems fitting one seal. In my case it was stretched on well and still fell off the first day.You can not go wrong with this supplier and the quality for the price...ships well packaged!

I was happy to get this plain silver 10 Inch Gazing Globe on Amazon because I was not able to order one like it locally. I needed a plain silver "Mirror Ball" for its optic characteristics, for a photography project. I am not using it to put in a garden, so the quality of the mirror finish is what matters to me. The one that I got has a poor quality surface on one side, there are some pits in the mirror finish. The imperfections are all concentrated on the same side of the ball, so it works for what I am doing. It would be better if the mirror finish was perfect on the entire gazing globe, but I can live with it.

If you plan on only using this product INDOORS, you're okay. I paid about $50 after shipping, it lasted 3 weeks. Now I have a clear glass globe in the back yard (the advertised picture is it sitting outside), because apparently the 'silver' runs right off with the rain (which we get very infrequently here in the desert).The product discription says, "silver finish inside the globe provides a colored mirror look" - this must be a lie. The silver finish was definately on the outside of the globe. I know this because of the few bubbles protruding from the globe upon arrival. Don't get me wrong, this looked very nice when I received it, the few bubbles were insignificant and did not take away from the look of this product. I just noted them when inspecting it. If the silver were inside, I would not be posting this negative feedback in the first place, as it would have never been exposed to water and the silver would still be there.There are silver gazing globes which work outside and will last a very long time - I HAD one for several years and finally broke it. This was it's poor excuse for a replacement.

Well what you see is what you get. It's a 10 inch diameter glass gazing ball with a mirror blue finish. I live in a wind prone area and found that filling it 1/3 full of gravel will keep it on the base during strong gusts. The plug may need to be taped on to secure it however. The packaging was phenomenal. The original packaging features Styrofoam around the globe; it was then triple wrapped in bubble-wrap and secured in a cardboard box. I was relieved it arrived undamaged and looks great in our yard. I'm surprised local stores don't carry them anymore.

Nice product, glad I purchased two. However, I did have to return two until I got two that match exactly in terms of actual shade. Also the base, which is usually around 2 inches, tended to vary slightly between globes as one was 2 1/4 inches and did not fit the holder that I have. However, I now have two that match exactly and with bases that fit in the holders that I have.

As far as these gazing balls go, I suspect this one is as good as most. Having said that, I believe, if you want to have this in your garden, ya can't go wrong.! It has the iridescent coloring shown in the picture and adds, at least to my garden, ...a bit of color often not seen in nature. As far as gazing at it.....it serves its function well,....as it is a conversation piece with anyone who graces my backyard deck. The price is superb and, for the $$$ spent, it is a relatively inexpensive garden decoration, that should last a life time.!...Oh....of course you need a base that will support the tubular protrusion on the bottom.!..It's about 2-3 inches long, so the pedestal must have the appropriate depth recepticle to receive the protrusion.

This gazing ball is very low quality...the finish has many, many imperfections (pitting that ranges from very small to quite large) making it impossible to put the "good side" toward the front as there is no good side. The imperfections are numerous and scattered. Additionally, the part I call the "neck" that extends down when placing in the base, has a broken section. Since there was no glass loose in the carton, and the rubber moisture barrier was in place, I think it was sent that way from the manufacturer, possibly a factory defect. However, this broken area prevents the moisture barrier from making a snug fit, so condensation inside the ball will likely occur. The color is beautiful, but this will have to be used in a remote area of my yard, because "gazing" into this ball will be impossible. The imperfections are clearly visible even from 8 feet away. I have seen less expensive gazing balls with less imperfections Lowe's and Walmart, but not in this color. Unless your heart is set on red, do yourself a favor and shop locally so you can examine a gazing ball before purchasing. I would return it but trying to package it for shipping would be quite expensive, so I am stuck with this piece of junk. Maybe the squirrels in the far corner of my yard will be less critical.

Globe arrived as described,no surprises.Good value when compared to the garden stores.May be a little tacky but who cares******I like it.Update after less than a months use**Less than a month after being placed outside in the garden the mirror finish has come off the globe and it looks like hell**I contacted company customer relations who confirmed that this product was prone to failureYet they continue to sell it** SAVE YOUR MONEY**

I was pleased when the ball was first delivered but after a few months the shine started to fade. Now after 5 months the ball looks like crap since the silvering is all coming off the inside of the ball. Don't be swayed by reviews written shortly after delivery. A stainless steel ball "may possibly" stand up better.

Lasts a couple of years, but gold flecks off noticeably with time and outdoor exposure.

Perfect for a Chromeball or Mirror ball for VFX use. Even have a socle for my pole. But I see some minor bubbles.
