BMWE30 - 3 Series Restoration Bible

Changes the way you look at your E30.
If you're picking up a 30-year-old E30 and considering he path from beater to classic, this book is a huge and entertaining read to help you get that journey started. Think of this as a supplement to the repair manual, the online forums, and the other how-to guides out there. This relies on the manual, and assumes you'll be ready to look up other things along the way. But it provides significant detail that fills in gaps between what you see in the manual and what you encounter in your driveway on your particular model.Best of all, it's written in an engaging style with a sense of humor. For me, it made the difference between "this is all too much" to "I can do this, and it will be fun!" This will change the way you look at your E30. The days of anxiety and exasperation, where every bent or broken thing is an unwanted repair, will be morphed into days of dabbling, where those things are each a mini-project to be tackled for the betterment of your classic in the making.

Must have for E30 fans
Breat book with many tips and tricks you will not find anywhere else. If you are restoring one of these, it will pay for itself times over again. Only caveat: it was written by a british author and therefore refers to the GB models and therefore is somewhat overloaded with info about models that were never sold here. It also misses some US model info, e.g. 4:10 rear axle ratio that was used here for 325ia cars.

eh its ok
i thought this book would give me some kind of knowledge but it really didnt give me much knowledge except for the first few pages decribing the history of the e30. the tutorials and the troubleshooting parts can all be researched online in multiple forums and if you are wanting to replace certain things on your car you can definitely get all the info from the bentley manual!!i think it was a waste of money

A bible for the E30 DIY owner
I have read, and reread this book many times over, and I always find more information in it. I do all my own work on my E30 and this book has proven invaluable. unlike most automotive books that focus on one model, this book avoids the misty eyed reverence, and sticks to practical information. I just love it. highly recommended.

Nice to have
Necessary to read especialy when you want to buy one of those cars, the chapter where they describe common problems of the car matches perfectly the experience we have using them.

There is better out there.
Very general. No details to assist with any work you plan to do.

Useful book, handy nuts-and-bolts reference
Good reference for anyone restoring one of these classics. Like most of the brit books it's heavy on the non-north-american models. Gives a good peek at how bad rust can eat an E30, that's for sure!

Perfect book for restoring or tidying up an E30
This book must be used in conjunction with the Bentley Manual or internet searching. It tells you everything the workshop manual misses out. What areas to dissect and inspect for rust. How to fix common problems. How to refresh your car in depth. I have a 325i Mtech 1 and this book has been very useful so far.

This goes very well with the Bentley manual, and worth it on its own if you are thinking about buying a E30.
