After reading the reviews for this bird feeder that mentioned poor construction and pieces broken off during shipping I was a bit hesitant to place my order . I was afraid that I was going to be disappointed with the quality & condition but mine arrived fully intact with all the parts firmly attached. Since it's assembled with staples I figured it would need gluing or screws for reinforcement but it already seems very sturdy.I wanted a large feeder and this one is even bigger than I expected. It looks really nice and it's spacious enough to easily accommodate bigger birds like bluejays right along with the inevitable squirrels.

Great design, sub-optimal quality
I love the design.Price was decent.Quality /workmanship falls rather short.Using it as delivered I don't think it would hold up well for long.I used 2 coats of a stain w/ polyurethane product and it turned out a beautiful finish. Also reinforced the whole thing with screws, as the cheap staples holding it together weren't going to hold up long.As long as your willing to invest some extra time finishing and reinforcing it, you should end up with a great product. If you don't want to take the time to do that, then I wouldn't waste your money.

Very poorly constructed, especially for the size
Ordered this twice, both times arrived broken. First of all, must say I WOULD have liked it very much, for it is really very large. But the manner of construction is not substantial, making something this size rather fragile. And being fragile, the packing was absurdly in adequate: simply placed into a cardboard box with only a bit of crumpled paper on one side to "fill" the space created due to the box being a bit wider than the feeder. NO PADDING at all! So, lightweight wood, flimsy construction, no padding, equals broken on delivery. Needs a re-engineering/redesign to change the "slot" carved into the short end pieces where the bottom screen rests. This slot amounts to cutting nearly half-way through the piece of wood and with the grain, so a good thump, as in shipping, results in the wood "finishing" the split which was intentionally started by the slot cut.If you can acquire this locally so you don't have to ship, it would be great. I would love it myself. Doesn't stand up to shipping, and as another reviewer stated, won't stand up to the weather as is. Needs complete sealing/painting, and as the other reviewer suggests, reinforce the corners with screws.

Bird Feeder
This is nice looking and is quite large which is nice and the bottom is great because it helps keep the birdseed dry but the wood used for this is very soft and it is put together with staples and as soon as I set it up the staples pulled out and the wood on one side split.

Disappointing!!
I really wanted to give this a 1 or 2 star review but I don't like it or hate it. After the item arrived, I opened the box and one side of the roof was off the birdfeeder. I found this piece in the box under the birdfeeder. It could not have just slipped off the birdfeeder to the bottom of the box as it was snuggly packed in the box and wrapped with bubble wrap. So I pulled out the board and the long staples that were supposed to attach it to the top of the feeder were hammered over. I tried to straighten them to try to pull them out to no avail. So, I hammered them over more and got out some nails and my trusty hammer and nailed the board onto the feeder. Not a big deal unless you are not good with a hammer or don't have any nails. Overall the feeder is nice and is going to feed lots of birdies, but I was disappointed that I had to finish building it. I don't like to leave negative responses without giving the company a heads up and allow them to make good on their product, but I called them in Wisconsin and left 2 messages with them and never got a reply! Very disappointing!!! My daddy was a wood worker (God rest his soul!) and I just want to think of all woodworkers good hearted like my daddy!! He never would have boxed up a mess that he had made!

Terrific Feeder! Great for attracting larger birds!
I love this feeder. It is attractive and well made. I read the previous reviews about poor packaging and all, but risked it anyway and I'm glad I did. It arrived intact and very well and carefully packed with an abundance of the plastic pillow type filler. I have other feeders for the small birds but had nothing suitable for the larger species until I got this. I agree with some people that it would be more confidence-inspiring if wood screws had been used rather than staples, but everything seems very solid, stable, and securely attached, so I don't think there is anything to complain about. I also think that real craftsmanship is shown in the way the roof pieces meet in a clean, overlapped angle calculated to shed the rain. The perfs in the metal screen of the base are quite small, too, providing excellent drainage but not allowing the kinds of food suitable for this size of feeder to pass through. I have other feeders for the tiny birds and their tiny seeds! I would definitely recommend this feeder to my friends.

Good Fly-Thru for the Price
Bought this feeder for the Blue Jays, because of the large size. Looks great in the yard mounted on a 4x4 post. The construction quality could have been more durable. I would suggest that weatherproof screws be used instead of the brads. Other than that the Jays and Woodpeckers are all over this feeder taking whole peanuts all day, everyday.
