If I could go back in time, I would probably spend less to buy a better one. The reason I was truly disappointed with this mill is the fact that is overly priced for its quality. It is not a cheap mill but since I read and watched good reviews about it I decided to buy it. Quality control is evidently not the focus for the manufacturer.The mill came in a crate with a pallet at the bottom and it was secured with only ONE bolt on the left side. The crate was mishandled and as a result the mill was free to swing banging on the right side bending the carriage handle's spindle quite a bit. Repair needed.2nd point and the most important:This is a $2000+ mill and you have to demand a certain degree of accuracy/quality control during the manufacturing process. I knew that the machine was already lacking a way to tram the head on the X axis but I thought that with some shimming under the column I would achieve a decent alignment. How wrong I was. The machine came completely and randomly misaligned, because the column base is machined poorly, as a result I spent 1 and 1/2 days of hard work to achieve a somewhat decent tramming. The machine was, out of the box 35 mils off and it had a diagonal offset (!!!) of 45 mils. Unbelievable.3rd point: I had to fight the offset of the column with trigonometry at one point and just tapping at the base of it with a dead blow hammer big chunks of putty and paint came off. A layer of 1/8Inch of putty, really? What is it a 1965 mustang body repair?4th: The quill's DRO was basically not screwed in place, inside and out. I had to disassemble the front panel, remove it, clean it and put it back in place after cleaning the oil and using locktite. It works now, and it's surprisingly accurate.5th: Very poor accessory package. They could have saved the cheap allens and wrenches, people have generally plenty of them. They could have included at least a spare arbor since the chuck that came with the mill is basically not usable. Whatever you put in it, it wobbles. You wouldn't believe. At least a good thing about this machine is that the spindle is fairly accurate and my South Bend r8 quick change collets work very well with virtually no runoff.6th; I would expect that if the mill included a tapping feature (useless), you could go below 100 rpm. A dial speed control would be more appropriate, since each click on the speed button gives you an increase of 10 rpm. Good luck getting to 860 rpm...plenty of clicking to do.NOW THE GOOD THINGS:The head has a brushless motor and has plenty of torque to do any kind of job since the mill has a fair level of rigidity.The motor-spindle assembly works very smoothly and quietly.Lots of power, boring is surprisingly easy with this machine.The spindle has a very low runoff. At least!The table seems to be accurate and has a small backlash, which is good.The quill is rigid and seems to be plenty precise for the work it does.
