Converter is broken. I had a hair straightener120v that needed the converter and I could smell and feel something frying on the inside before it destroyed it. Good thing about electric, you can usually smell when something goes wrong. I switched it to adapter and it still worked, albeit not as well. It clearly wasn’t hitting 450 but it was working, probably at 400. The converter says input 220-240Vac output 110-120vac. Clearly this isn’t the case. I am just glad it still works. For UK, you have to fold out the black piece. It’s not like US where we don’t always use the third prong. As an adapter I highly recommend this product, especially because you will not need to buy multiples in the future. As a converter, I don’t feel comfortable to say because you can always find a blow dryer for the most part, and I didn’t use a blow dryer, which is why most people need the converter. For straighteners, try the adapter first.

Worked with my 110v bliw dryer in Ireland. The handle of the dryer had a low vibrating feel as I used it, but it didn't get over heated and worked consistently. Once I got back to the States, my dryer worked just fine in the 110 outlets, so it wasn't damaged by using the converter. I'm glad I got this!

I've used multiple adapters in multiple countries across the globe and have never had this much of an issue with one. I purchased this adapter specifically because of it's description of its ability to down convert power for a couple of our electronics and it literally fried them to the point where they no longer turn on! Not only did I waste my money on this product but I destroyed over $300 worth of appliances and electronics as well. Thanks for nothing. I would strongly urge you to purchase another adapter/converter and to stay as far from this product as humanly possible.You've been warned.

I took this with me to London specifically for my blow dryer and curling iron. I followed the instructions and when I plugged in my curling iron, it fried the thing!! Totally ruined my $100 curling iron. Wasn’t about to try it on anything else!!
