Great product
I got this for my son who does a lot of backpacking and camping in the outdoors. After trying it out and seeing the product I'm super happy and will be ordering one for myself. The Ferro Rod is long and it was very easy to get a spark. I love that you have the tube you could blow on the fire to get it going. We tried it in our backyard with some toilet paper at and easily had a fire going within minutes. I love that it also comes in a case!!

Not recommended
Opened up my package expecting to find a fire steel, striker, and bellows like shown in the product advertisement....but all I received was this beat up tin with just bellows....wouldn't recommend this product...this crap is in the process of being returned

Insides better than outsides
Quality of the tin is crap, flimsy and thin. However, I didn't buy it for the tin. Nice big rod, excellent striking, good amount of cordage and straw is good quality. I bought 3 of them.

Sturdy product at a pretty good price!
The only reason I gave the product one less star was because the tin was badly crushed when I opened the box it came in.Fortunately, nothing appears to have gotten damaged. I'm not terribly concerned about it because it would happen eventually, but I would still kinda like to put my own dents in it, if you know what I mean.Otherwise, I think it looks like a great little fire rod and I am looking forward to giving it a try in the rough stuff.Thanks for having this at a pretty nice price!

Great survival idea for ditch bag
I bought this handy survival item for our emergency ditch bag in case we have to leave our house in a hurry and we get stranded in a remote place. What's cool is it compact while containing everything you need to generate a spark to light your tinder. Fire means survival.

Nice size magnesium rod. Not sure why it was painted black, but after scraping the pain off it throws a nice shower of sparks.

Didn't work the first time
Didn't work the first order I got, and box was damage. Amazon replace it & the second one works but the carrying case was still damage
