This is the wondrous debut record from Clues. Co-founders Alden Penner and Brendan Reed have been quietly nurturing this project in Montreal since the demise of their respective bands, Unicorns and Les Angles Morts. As a member of the short-lived Unicorns, Penners songwriting prowess was unveiled in a bright burst of mysterious and kaleidoscopic energy, in the form of a single full-length album (released in 2003) and countless live shows, both of which rallied passionate responses from audiences and critics alike.

One of my favorite go to albums
If you are a fan of the Unicorns, and/or the Islands, you should be aware of Clues. If not, don't hesitate to add this stellar album to your shelf. Certain albums have a quality that keeps calling me back to them. This is one of those albums. Just like the work of the Unicorns and Islands, it's filled with great melodies, but adds some great heavy guitar riffs. The song structures are very unconventional, but I love the twists and turns throughout the album. Album closer "Let's Get Strong" is a beautiful piano ballad that while different in personality with the rest of the album, ends the album on a perfect note.

Alden Penner is a genius.
Great songs, great sounds, great lyrics. The standouts for me are HAARP, Cave Mouth, Crows, and Let's Get Strong. These four songs alone span a wide range of sounds and emotions.I highly recommend this album to any fan of pop or rock music.

Creative, Original, Intense
A superb album is what we can expect from a Canadian band formed by consecrated musicians, like ex-members from Arcade Fire (Brendan Reed) and from Unicorns (Alden Penner). This self-titled debut album is a great surprise from the begin to end. I first listened on-line and decided to buy as a gift to my girlfriend. But when it has came to me I listened some times again and thought that it's a so much great sound that if I don't get the album to myself I probably would sorry in the future. So, that's why I recommend it, more to yourself that as a gift! =)

weird, awesome music.
I bought this for my brother, and he ended up loving it and recommending it to me... having listened to the whole thing several times, I've fallen in love with this album in all its offbeat glory. I mean offbeat like 'odd,' by the way.Favorite tracks- Remember Severed Head, You Have My Eyes Now, Crows, LedmontonGood for anyone who can appreciate the unusual. I can listen to this album over and over.

Made my day this album.
A diverse and overlooked group of songs, wish I'd picked up on it more at the time of release or been able to see them as they don't appear to be active anymore as a band. Excellent stuff indeed

メロディセンスもいい。
元Arcade Fire、Think About Lifeなどにも在籍していたBrendan Reedと元The UnicornsのAlden Pennerを中心に結成されたカナダ・モントリオールのバンド。
