You can pass a damp cloth to lightly wipe the surface. **Q: does this have gel inside or beads or seeds ?** A: It has seeds. As I said in my review, it cools off within 3 minutes. It's better to use a hot water bottle such as Warm Tradition transparent hot water bottles made in Germany. **Q: I want this for shoulder AND neck stiffness. But it looks like it only covers the very base of the neck. How far up the neck does it go?** A: This product is too small for what you want. I had to return it since it barely went around my neck.
