Good except for BEEP!!
I got this to listen to Audible books and Pandora without lugging my tablet around (and to make pausing/volume control easier). It worked for that, although the sound does take a hit with a bit of static and less crispness. The buttons are a little sticky (they don't give a satisfying "click" feel), but they function well enough. I've had bluetooth devices convey better sound than this, but this is good. This would have been 4 stars if not for the painful BEEP you get when you try to raise the volume higher than it can go. I feel Pavlovian conditioned away from using this because of that punishing, piercing BEEP from just trying to make it louder! "Oh, you want to hear better?" "Oh yeah, actually I'd like tha-" "BEEP! How about I deafen you instead? BEEP! How do you like that?!" If the volume went as loud as that dang BEEP I wouldn't try to get it any higher, would I? How did that make it past beta?

Supremely disappointed. Cheap junk. Case fell apart after first use. Amplifies sound -- too loud at lowest volume levels.
I had high hopes for this device. I've been searching for a very long time for a bluetooth headphone/earbud receiver to replace my aging Samsung HM3700.This could have been perfect. It's supremely small and light, which is what I wanted for travel. I chose it mostly for the raised player and call control buttons on the front that I can feel and press without having to look at the device or remove it from my pocket. The sound quality is fine, and the pairing with my phone quick and simple. This could have been the ideal bluetooth receiver for me, a traveler who's goal is to travel the world with only what I can carry in my pockets. Unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pro.The case literally came apart on first use. It appears to simply snap together -- barely snap together. The on/off switch fell out when the case when it came apart. I lost it for a short time. Fortunately, I found it and reassembled the unit. But the case separates every time it handle it now, risking losing parts inside. At this price, I'd consider super gluing it permanently. But there is another problem -- this receive *amplifies* the sound. Now that may be a good thing for some people. However, I try to use it to listen to meditation and sleep tracks through my smartphone. I'd usually listen to these at close to the lowest volume settings through my earbuds connected directly. BUt this little device amplifies the sounds to a mid-level volume at the very lowest volume possible, which borders on uncomfortably loud for me. That alone is a deal-breaker. But cheap construction will likely result in a return.

GREAT item from Kinivo! Inventive and functional
This is terrific! A great job done by Kinivo in creating something portable, simple, and useful! This is genuinely one of those products that I use every day and the simplicity has really impressed me. The BTE40 has made my life much simpler.Packaging includes:+ BTE40 bluetooth transmitter: easy on/off switch and elevated control buttons clearly marked. It's small, the size of a stick of 5pack of gum or even smaller. Built in clip attaches to clothing easily.+ Shortened earbuds in which one earbud wraps behind the head. It's a nice design and they work well enough. They produce solid sound but don't knock my socks off with rich highs/lows or quality bass/treble. They get the job done and come included with the headset though.+ Longer 3.5mm Aux cable+ Shorter 3.5mm Aux cable+ MicroUSB recharging cablePros:+ Works terrific! Easy pairing and works immediately. It can be paired to two bluetooth devices at the same time, too! This is really convenient if I'm studying in a coffee shop and switching back and forth between my laptop to watch a video or my phone to listen to music. Don't ask me why I don't just listen to music on my laptop... I've got my reasons (even if they're stupid)+ Battery indicator for the BTE40 pops up when you link it to our bluetooth device. So my iPhone shows the battery life left in the BTE40 when I'm using it! That's cool!+ Easily identified controls allow for bluetooth device control device+ Compact, portable size and lightweight design make this a great traveling companion.+ Earbud design lets you keep on earbud in without the other dangling around to drag down the one you have in your ear+ Accepts ANY 3.5mm aux cable - so if you have a fancy pair of earbuds you want to make wireless, this is a good solution.+ Affordable pricing - for $30 pricemark this little guy does exactly what it advertises and does it well. I searched for other similar bluetooth adapters for headphones but they're pricier and don't necessarily seem to deliver any better quality or design. I think this is the best bet for your money.+ I haven't fully tested the battery life on this unit, yet. However, I've had 2hr phone conversations and then listened to music on my phone for another 3hrs with only draining the battery to about 50%. The person I was chatting with also said it sounded very clear with minimal background noise. All pluses in my book!Cons:- I could see very easily losing this since it's so small- I attached it to my car, hoping to convert my stereo to bluetooth capabilites, but the sound was dramatically reduced. I had to turn my stereo up to volume 40 to get it loud enough to listen to while driving. Not a big deal but I don't like that discrepancy of switching back to radio and having it be blasting my eardrums for a brief moment. So essentially, I don't think this is something I could use in my car. Bummer.Kinivo has great customer service every time I've dealt with them. I have several of their products and they never disappoint. They seem to have a great balance on quality and cost. They did not send me a review unit, I purchased the BTE40 out of pocket and I'm glad I did! It's a great travel companion!

Fell apart the next day.
Seemed like a great way to listen to our iPhones while charging. The first one arrived with one of the tabs holding the clip on broken. Still it worked great. Unfortunately I should have made it a policy to keep the original packaging for a week, and these went into the trash and out the door that day. The next day my wife came home from work and I notice hers has scotch tape wrapping the unit. Apparently it popped apart at work and she was able to gather all the little parts and tape it together. I gave her mine. The next day she comes home and that one popped apart and the clip broke off, in her pocket. So good idea, but the construction is so cheap that even if I were paid money to have one, I'd still be on the losing end of that deal.

Great product design, needs longer battery life.
This is perfect for someone like me, who listens to podcasts and music from my iPhone 5, but my Spice Stellar 360 can still interrupt me for a phone call. This is a fantastic convenience! Kinivo is also compatible with my 13' Macbook Pro (early 2011). If you use a different micro USB charging cable from the one provided in the box, make sure it's slim, because it's very close to the 3.5mm audio jack (see my photo). If cable is too thick, you can't plug both in at the same time.Pros:1) Uneven cable length on left and right side earphones, which enables you to hang the cable AROUND your neck (instead of directly in front of your neck), preventing the cable from straining your ears or getting caught on something if you bend down,. See how I'm wearing it in the photos. If you wear it this way, you can easily take the earbuds in and out of your ears. See the photo where I have labeled the length for each section of the earphone cable.2) Large clip size on the back of the receiver. This lets me wrap the cable, secure it with the clip, and keep it in my pocket or a compartment in my bag, without it becoming unraveled and tangling with everything else in my bag. Great job!3) When paired with iPhone 5, a small icon shows you how much battery is left on the Kinivo, which is very convenient. (this icon isn't on the screen of my Spice phone). Also, a few minutes before the battery dies, a voice announces in your ears 'Battery low'.Cons:1) Matte covering is already starting to peel after less than a month of use. The matte covering is important, because it protects from scratches, and makes it easier to grip.2) I wish battery life was slightly longer. It doesn't last through a full day of active use. I usually listen to music, so if I start around 10am, I have to recharge by 4pm.3) Would be nice if they provided an extra earphone cable, because it's hard to find these kinds of short length earphones.4) Bluetooth range is not that good. For flawless audio transmission, you need to stay within 4-5 feet of your phone/computer.
