So far, so great...
I read a lot of reviews about this cooling bed. Most were very positive; seemingly, the only negative reviews were about easy puncturing of the bed. I went back and noticed that most of the negative reviews were quite old posts and reasoned that the manufacturer had most likely improved the quality of the product. We have only had the bed filled and positioned for a week or so, but so far, it's been great! Yesterday we had our first hot day (85 degrees) and our 8-year old lab kept retreating to it to cool down. He is very arthritic and has elbow dysplasia and I think this is going to be a fantastic aid for him this summer. It's amazing to see how overheated he gets and within 5 minutes on the bed, his panting has stopped and he is comfortable. Considering buying a second!

Canine Cooler keeps dogs cool!
I have to say that this "cooling" bed is great! I wish I would have discovered it earlier for my Newfies are 56 and 7 years old and would have benefited from these earlier in their life. My one male Newfi almost died pot laryngeal tie back flap procedure because they could not cool him down with his temperature rising to 107.9. This bed would have been great. They had to pack him in ice and wipe him down with alcohol while having him in A/C with a fan to get his temp down. I took my newfoundlands to the Outer Banks on vacation and placed 2 large Canine Cooler beds in the back of my SUV for them to stay cool. They slept the entire way not even wanting to get out when we stopped. They really work!! I just wish their was an extra large bed (not having to put 2 of them together to make one bigger) for my dogs are very large. I keep them on my hardwood floors and they lay on them all the time. They really work!

I was skeptical and worried.....but IT'S WORTH IT!!!
I have to say I was worried about having a canine cooler because of the fact that you add water to the bed. I was skeptical about the durability of the dog bed (and with water added, I believe 8 Quarts) it was a perfect storm of trouble. But I must say it has held up beyond my expectations and the fact that my 135 pound Chesapeake Bay Retriever will seek it out was a cherry on top. I was hoping my Chessie would enjoy the canine cooler (because he runs hot) but I never realized he would take a love to it. I also have an English Lab pup that loves it and will lay on the XL with the Chessie since its quite large. The puppy often tries to scratch away at the bed (which we stop a few seconds later) but again no damage. I'm so confident in the construction that I leave the bed on my hardwood floor. The inside of the canine cooler is like a sponge material which soaks up the water that you pour inside. It takes a little while to set the bed up because you have to add water and then essentially burp the air out of the bed. I was planning on not adding the full amount of water (in case it leaked) but that actually made burping the bed harder. You CAN MOVE the bed around but it's heavy because of the 8 Quarts of water. I would recommend leaving it in one spot, trust me your dog will like it and they will seek it out.

Your dog will love it!
Best thing we ever purchased for our dog. He absolutely loved it, and every time we had a dog stay with us, they loved it too. You must have this if you live in an area with hot weather. We had two of these beds for at least 8-9 years of my dog's life (we had to replace both a couple of times of course) .He always loved it, but, during the last year of his life, he was diagnosed with lar par, and this bed was an absolute necessity and savior, it helped so much with keeping him cool. With that terrible disease, keeping them cool can be life and death.

Served its purpose but did not last long
I purchased the canine cooler in the summer for my dogs and they loved it and laid on it all summer long. It served the purpose of keeping them much cooler for the hot summer days in Arizona. Now it is mid October and to reasons unknown there is a hole obviously a pin hole leak somewhere that I can not seem to find yet. The bed no longer conforms as it used to. I will be returning the bed for a replacement so my dogs can rest easy on it. Look for an update on the return process as it is less than 6 months old I am assuming there should be no problem. I also would like to add the dogs are not destructive and we do not have a cat. The hole is from who knows what possibly a rock that came in on a paw or??? The point is that it did not last long which I did read that in other reviews but it got my pooches through the summer so it gets 3 stars for that.

Thank you, I thought this would hold more water and I haven't found the perfect spot for it yet as it takes up a lot of space, but my dogs are finally using it. I still haven't determined if it's actually cooler than the cement or tile, but it's worth a try if you want your dog to be on something at least as cool as cement or tile, but not as hard--and that was the point as I don't want my dogs' bones to ache. It's worth a try, and if you decide it's not for you, I'm sure your local shelter will happily take it off your hands. I'm keeping mine for now, anyway. Thanks!

My dog loves this bed
The SoothSoft Canine Cooler is very similar to the K&H Cool Bed lll. This product doesn't have a separate valve to burp the air from the bed although that isn't a big deal. Any of these require some time for the plastic smell to dissipate. My dog absolutely loves this pad though. It stays cool and is easy on the joints. I would recommend placing this on a hard surface such as a tile or cement floor so the water in the bed stays cooler.

Wonderful bed for aging dogs / dogs that are in hot climate
Works great for a large dog to help cool him/her in the summer. Also good for an older dog with sore joints so this "water bed" helps with sore bony prominences. Had one for my lab that was aging. Live in hot area so this bed was perfect for him. Material is super sturdy. Once you fill it with water, it is incredibly heavy so recommend filling it where it will stay. It is difficult to move once filled. Highly recommend this product. This is my second one I've had and they last quite awhile.
