This Mini Eight size is smaller than our standard label, and has eight "positions" - perfect when our four and six position Temp-Plates provide too few recording positions. Each position turns permanently and irreversibly black when the indicated temperature is reached, creating a permanent record of overheat. Response time is less than 1 second when measured in water. The amber colored Kapton material is designed to withstand exposure to high heat in demanding applications. Pressure sensitive adhesive backing is rated to 500°F on smooth, clean, dry surfaces. When properly installed, labels are resistant to solvents, fuels, grease, oil, water, and steam. Wahl Temp-Plates have a two year minimum shelf life when stored in their original container at an ambient temperature of 60 to 80°F and a relative humidity of 50%. NIST Traceable labels have a lot code in the back of each box; accuracy calibration records are on file at Wahl. Title says it all. Used to visually monitor max hydraulic temperatures and keep planes from falling from the sky. Is that good enough for you? read the details if you aren't already convinced that for your application it is worth the price over telatemp (which didn't work well with chemical/fluid exposure in our extreme outdoor hydraulic application) Packaging was super extreme awesome. Talked with their tech, the lifespan is indefinite and they are resistant to chemicals/fluids once applied. BYW: the one year shelf life is only for the ADHESIVE, these last indefinitely once properly applied.

Great for portable use
Great for portable use. Make sure the area being applied to is very clean and no solvents are left on it. In the environment where I was using them under a semi-truck and trailer I had to come up with a secondary coating to protect from the harsh dirt and wash methods. Some engine enamel or clear rtv did the trick without any damage or altered temperature.
