The handles are too short for shoulder carry (like a one strap backpack) ... espec when colder and wearing a jacket. So instead these are used just for inside closet storage. I've had these since June of last year, They get dirty but not too bad and only because of the light color. I'm afraid to dye them because I think that they will shrink, I have never washed them and they still look decent. I use them for every grocery trip and the commissary baggers fill them up and they get really heavy but I've never ever had to worry about if anything would snap or tear. Extremely sturdy and well made. I'm ditching my other store bought bags and going to build my collection of these bags and one other brand that is on Amazon. These are the bags that you want your cans and bottles in.Any questions ask and I'll respond :-)

Love these bags! I bought them for Christmas presents and did some stencil designs on them, they were such a hit I keep getting asked for more. The bags are sturdy, will hold quite a bit & they're made in the USA! One person has had to wash theirs and despite slight shrinking, they've maintained their shape and sturdiness as well as the stenciling. I will be ordering more and continue to make gifts of them. Love that there are multiple sizes to choose from as well as varied lengths of the carry straps.

I had been looking for a quality, heavy duty shopping bag that had handles long enough to sling over my shoulder (I walk with a cane, so this is a must if I want to be able to open doors too ;-).These bags are just the ticket. My goodness, you could carry FIREWOOD in these things!Update: It has been a year now. I have used these bags constantly, washed them quite a few times and they look like they still have a few more years left in them. I'm constantly getting comments from store clerks about how everyone else's bags are hard to pack, cheap and smell (probably because washing the recycled plastic bags is not really an option).One rather senior employee of a grocery store chain said "Wow! This bag is bigger inside than it is outside."

I am giving these 3 stars for the moment, until I see what others' experiences have been if washed in Hot water. The care instructions for these bags says to wash in Cold water only, because the material is not pre-shrunk. (really?!?) Unfortunately, cold water washing does nothing to remove what you want to remove from re-usable bags (bacteria and things like fecal bacteria commonly found on supermarket carts from kids sitting in them, etc etc). Every google result for "cleaning reuseable bags" says that cotton bags should be washed in HOT water.I am disappointed that the seller did not disclose in the item description that these are not preshrunk and should only be washed in cold water. However, perhaps others have washed them in hot water and will respond to the question I posted separately.If these do survive a hot water wash, I will be happy to upgrade my rating. But seriously, it should be a 1-star for non-disclosure of the care instruction details up front. Cold water washing of a re-usable cotton bag just doesn't cut it.

we've been using these bags for months now. wonderful bags. heard all the admonitions about washing them. fine, we haven't washed them 8-)my wife n I love them. good feel, good size, even the colors are nice. cotton - thumbs up & American made too. we will be ordering these again, when we get more bags.

Bags do shrink a bit when washing but have been very sturdy and are holding up well.

Love them! About the size of a paper grocery bag. The handles are long enough to put over my shoulder. Small Velcro closure at top. Folds easily. Comes with washing instructions and best of all...Made in the U.S.A.!
