I had the older model, which was as much fun as a root canal and watching CNN at the same time. **Q: Does this allow other attachments?** A: Hi there, good question! This is a string trimmer only and is not part of the multi-head system. You would need the PH1400 for the attachments. Thank you for your question. **Q: Can you use a 5a battery on this or just the 2.5a battery?** A: I have not seen anything in the owners manual addressing any other interchangeable batteries. I don't even know if EGO makes a 5v battery, and if they do, that it would fit this trimmer. From my use thus far, I have had no problem with the capability of the 2.4v battery.
