They can have a lot of health problems so be careful that you can afford vet bills. These beautiful animals appeared as far back as 3000 BC! A cross of the English Mastiff and Irish Wolfhound, they are a good family pet if you have plenty of room. These gentle giants need lots of love and care. This book can help decide.

The author, Mark Manfield, has done an amazing job with this Great Dane guide. The book is well organized, thoughtfully written, and very informative. A must have for future Great Dane families and families who already have a Great Dane.

This was purchased as a gift for a 78 yr. old gentleman who has had many, many years of experience with Great Danes but is getting a 12 wk. old puppy. Sometimes a refresher in all that is new for pups in their first year sets a good path for both owner and puppy.
