amazing book
a foundational introduction to voice training (particularly to youth) but full of excellent information. I've been singing for 25+ years and always wanted something as a go to for not just hows but whys. love it so far.

For singers, teachers of voice & choral professionals
Richard Alderson has written a practical guidebook for singers and especially teachers of voice and choral directors who would like the wise advise of a professional singer and teacher. As a professional teacher of voice, I recommend it highly!!

Thank you!
I ordered this book to see if I could get some help without going through the whole internet network of chaos. This book has a lot of jewels for beginning teachers.

It's good for professional singers and instructors
This book seems to be more for voice teachers than students. I am not a professional and so it is more technical than I was hoping for

Good if a bit dated
Alderson does a good job of putting together an overview of the singing voice and an excellent variety of vocalises that can be used in training and developing singers. This book falls short in that it is a tiny bit dated in the verbiage, and that it focuses exclusively on the classical idea of good singing, with little acceptance of other styles. But it's well organized and easy to follow. The chapters are sometimes wordy, but it's not a difficult read. Definitely a worthy addition to my shelf of pedagogical resources.
