I found that it is easy to put them in at a slight angle and then I had to redo the rivet. I'm not sure if they are as rugged as the rivets put in jeans, but they are still pretty rugged, and for the price, the package is worth it...to me. **Q: Can you use these on flip flops** A: This particular set, no. They would be too small. These heads are only about the size of bic pen clickers. **Q: Will this work on 7-9oz leather?** A: I don’t know. If you measure the thickness of your leather with a caliper you should be able to compare that to the mm measurement of the rivets. You need very very little to push the cap on and set it. Installing rivets has its learning curves but this kit makes it easier since it comes with what you need to get started. One thing I wish wouldn’t have happened was that the cutting mechanism is very fragile it bent on the first use. With that in mind you have to have other tools as back up to make the piercing for the rivet post to get through the material. Which might not be a deal breaker for most crafty people since we are collectors of things and might be prepared for an issue like that.
