Came encased in the packing with seal and then additionally wrapped for shipment to preserve it well. The water based ink works well on most paper, of course more porous paper tends to feather the ink when writing, but it dries fast on denser paper as well. The color is a bold black which contrasts nicely on ivory or bleached papers. I tend to journal for hours and the special barrel contributes to its reliability and consistency.
