I just started using this last night and I’m using it TO DEATH!!! Lol. I love the fact that I can move around with it on. It stays hot for about 10 minutes. So I put it on at night and sleep in it. If I get up in the middle of the night, I heat it again and go back to sleep. I love this cap. The only thing I don’t like is, it doesn’t cover the nape of my neck. I have A LOT of hair (a huge Afro)! So I’d like it a little bigger. But it’s doing the job. I’m still extremely pleased. It’s snug, yet comfortable and so far, seems to be a good buy. I’ve heated it about 6 times already and it’s very well made. The beads don’t fall out and you can shake them around to the areas you feel you need them more. I prefer them to move around but I could understand others may like that. Overall I’d give it 5 stars, even with it being a medium size as opposed to extra large.

I have long hair and this cap improves my deep condition sessions immensely. I was ready to spring for a Hot Head but took a chance on this. I’m glad I did. It is comfortable to wear. It comes with some disposable shower caps to wear under it so that it stays clean and dry. Getting it wet will wreck the flax seeds. I also bought a non disposable shower cap for long term use since I don’t like throwing away plastic crap that harms the environment. Adding heat cuts the time in half so I no longer have to condition for half an hour or more. I’m done in 10 to 15 minutes. To get uniform, even heating, I put this on a plate in the microwave for 25 seconds, then I turn it inside out and give it a shake to distribute the flax seeds, then put it back in (inside out) for another 25 seconds. Take it out again, turn it right side out and heat for an a third time of 25 seconds (now at 75 seconds total). I put it on over a shower cap. It stays warm for the full 15 minutes. It will cool off a bit but it has excellent insulating properties. It may feel cool but your hair and scalp is still warm inside it and it will hold the heat in. If you truly want to go for 30 minutes it will continue to hold the warmth inside. You can also just microwave it again, but 30 minutes isn’t necessary as that time is for no heat deep conditioning.

I have natural curls and do a heated deep conditioning treatment weekly. I did use a previous cap that was not fabric/rice-based and it started to melt in the microwave when I heated it over time. I bought this and I have been so pleased. It holds heat very well. I usually put it in for 90 seconds. The downside is that the band can be a little snug so if you leave it on a long time like I do (30+ minutes), it can start to give you a headache or hurt; play with the band to find how far to tug it down to get a comfortable fit. I also have a smaller head, so I find the snugness surprising, as I usually can't find hats that fit me without them being too large. If you have a larger head, this may be too uncomfortable for you. Additionally, it took some adjustment to the weight of the cap due to the rice-like filling, as my previous cap didn't have this and was much lighter. All in all, I really like it and will keep on using it.

I have thick long hair that sits on my waist. The cap fits snug and although I would appreciate a bit more room it may not fit as snug so I guess it's something I will just need to deal with. I had to reheat it 3-4 times to keep the heat in my hair and left treatmemt in my hair for 30 minutes. It could be a bit time consuming if your hair is like mine. If you have thin and shorter hair you may just need to heat it once and be good.

This doesn’t seem to distribute the heat through out my whole head. I can feel it hotter in some places more than others. I’m keeping it but wish it would stay hotter longer.

I have low porosity hair (the cuticle lies really flat and tight, so moisture has a hard time getting into the hair shaft). I have learned to stay away from silicones in my hair products, but my hair still went through phases of feeling like straw. I now use protein-free shampoo from Shea Moisture and know I need to use heat to get conditioner to penetrate. I deep condition with this cap every time I wash and my hair feels like it did when I was 20! Soft, flexible, silky, shiny, resilient! This cap is a miracle! I use Shea Moisture’s Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner, put on a plastic shower cap, zap my flaxseed cap in the microwave for 90 seconds, put it on and continue with whatever I’m doing. I sometimes re-zap it after 15-20 minutes for another 90 seconds if I’ve got time for extra deep conditioning. Other times, I only zap it the first time for 20-30 minutes. I love how easy this is! My hair is better and better the more I use it. I wish I’d had it years ago!

I love this product! I ordered it a while ago but used it for the first time yesterday. My hair has been extremely dry and nothing I had tried worked except for conditioners that have more chemicals than I can tolerate. I am trying to use only natural products since I am extremely sensitive. I really like the materials used for this heat cap and the fact that there was no chemical odor.I used this cap after conditioning my hair in the shower and left it on for about an hour while I prepared and ate breakfast. I went to a salon to have my hair cut later in the day and my hairdresser was so impressed by the softness and condition of my hair that he asked me what I had done. It was the first time he did not use any chemical conditioners. He had me show him the product Information, presumably so he could recommend it to others. And all of that was after only one use!

I heated it for 90 seconds and it was hot for about 10 mins. I heated it for 2 mins the next time and it gave me about 15 mins. So I’m not sure if I should be heating it more to last longer but after the two minutes it was very hot in certain areas so I was nervous to heat more. Also I noticed that it was hotter in certain pockets more than others. When I felt under it the heat seemed to still get to the less hot areas but I still would’ve liked the heat to be more well distributed. I will continue to use it bc it got the job done but I wouldn’t buy the same brand again if and when this one stops working completely or wares. 1/14/20
