I never write reviews, but this product definitely deserves one. I have a shower drain that gets backed up easily. No way to remove the cover to clear the catch. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on every drain cleaner possible over the past few years. They work for a shower or two, then it backs up again with a vengeance. I used this product once. The granules were a little too large for the drain holes in my shower, but (as suggested by another user review) just used rubber gloves to break them up and push through the drain holes. Then, (again per a previous reviewer’s suggestion) poured a pot of almost boiling water over it. The gurgling and sound of water moving further down the drain than I’d ever heard before since this issue started was incredible- music to my ears!! -and only on the very first use. Should mention that I also used a lesser amount than some have suggested it’d take! I was about to call a plumber bc again, this has been a persistent issue. I’m a woman with long hair- and even though I try to be mindful of keeping hair from going into the drain, maybe that was the cause. I also have a pup that I sometimes wash in there, but always use an additional screen when washing her- still that might have also contributed. Regardless, this stuff worked like magic! I’ve truly never been so compelled to write a review before. The steam does create a slight odor, and once again- following advice of previous users, I put a mask on to be safe. It’s not overwhelming-and the smell didn’t last beyond the time I was pouring water over it- but to be safe, probably best to avoid inhaling it- if whatever is in there is powerful enough to clear my jammed up drain, I’m pretty sure it’s not something that’d be healthy to breathe into your lungs. Still, this got the job done the very first time. I will be washing the shower floor thoroughly before I step in there next (don’t want anything toxic on my skin), but am already excited for my next shower without any drain backup. If you’re having drain issues- do yourself a favor and try this. I’m glad I’d found this-was calling a plumber in the morning if it didn’t work-it does what it claims and ultimately saved me so much money!! We had a very slow drain on our tub. My 1st attempt in using Thrift , I poured a cup in the drain like the instructions said & just used the hot water out of the tub faucet. It just rushed the crystals down the drain & did nothing. Dont do that. The 2nd attempt, I put a pot of BOILING water heated from the stove. This time I could hear & see the chemical reaction & smell it too (its not too bad, but you wanna open a window & leave the room). After doing this, I waited a few minutes & the tub wasn't draining at all & actually backing up with black sewerage in about a 1/2 inch of water. I thought, 'Crap! this actually made it worse'. I wound up plunging it a bit & finally got it to drain. I went to bed thinking about how I would be showering in sewerage & calling a plumber the next morning. So I woke up & took a shower & BOOM - The drain was clear & the water was rushing down the pipes. Here is my advice: It instructs you to use a cup of the crystals & hot water. Have a couple pots of BOILING water ready and 1 cup of the crystals. Probably should use rubber gloves, safety glasses, & a mask to cover your nose & mouth. Pour about a 1/2 cup down the drain with a pot of boiling water (about a gallon), Give it a minute or 3, & when the drain settles, do the same with the other 1/2 cup & second gallon of water. Wait a good 10 minutes & run hot water from the shower for about 2 min. Wait about another 20 min & if the drain didn't clear & the water didn't dissipate, Have a plunger handy. I think a little jolt from the plunger helped break up some of the crap that was in the pipes & allowed the chemical to take care of the rest. Make sure people have showered & give it overnight to clear. I still am not sure if I want to do this routinely on my cast iron pipes, I dont know enough about this product to know if it will harm the pipes. Please comment if you do know... But for this big blockage, it sure helped.

This stuff is amazing. A friend told me about it and I figured I'd buy it just in case I needed it some day. Well that day came when my tub started to slowly drain and have standing water and the snake just wasn't cutting it. I remembered I had this stuff, followed the directions and *BAM!* My mind was blown! I can't put into words the satisfaction I had watching and listening to this stuff do it's thing... and it literally worked within minutes (maybe even seconds!?)

Immediately cleared the tub drain of hair and bar soap! Way better the liquids at the box stores.

Excellent product that WORKS!! I had a slow-moving drain in my bathroom sink. I used this as instructed and it worked immediately. Best product I have used for drains. I will keep a bottle of Thrive on hand from now on!

Came across this product on social media and have been dealing with a slow draining bathtub for the last few weeks, gave this a shot vs calling up the landlord to assist. Followed instructions and incredibly my bathtub be draining again! Just be mindful to wear gloves, goggles, mask when using as a precaution. Will definitely use again for any stubborn drains.

Drain cleaner is very good.. Made light work of a shower drain at my son’s university dormitory accommodation.. Drain was blocked from previous tenants and students over the years.. Cleared it with one application.

My washbasin was clogged a lot. The drain cleaner works as advertised. Just pour boiling hot water to activate the process. The situation is clear now.
