I am so glad that someone took the time to make such an exquisite book series before these old-timers are gone and their stories lost. If you are of Irish descent or know someone who is, this large, gorgeous book is sure to be a big hit as a gift.

Turtle Bunbury and James Fennel are a match made in heaven.... Turtle's insightful writing coupled with James' stunning photography make their books "must haves" for anyone who is fascinated by character studies. And of course, the Irish specialize in "characters"! The authors have a real knack for finding them in the hidden corners of this beautiful country. The only disappointment you will have is that you have turned the last page.

this book is amazing i pick it up to read any time i have bought many for gifts also a true irish book as i moved from ireland 1989 so i love it as it is all true story as their is a relations of mine mentioned in this book and also wrote the first chapter great book

This book captures a way of life that is, in my opinion, rapidly disappearing. The photography is gorgeous. The personal stories are interesting and heart warming. I highly recommend this book, and the others in the series, to anyone interested in learing about a slower, simpler way of life in Ireland.

Lovely text, lovely photographs. Reading this book is a glimpse into the lives of people much like our friends and loved ones if we lived in Ireland. It may inspire you to talk with and record your older relatives and neighbors before those memories are lost.

Struggled getting this book in any book shop in the uk. But had a very happy mum on Christmas Day. Arrived within a couple of days of ordering and was well packaged so no damage. Definitely would recommend.
