Spectacular Tome of an amazing designer and her influence on an uniquely modern for the times home! The photo is crisp and clear. The book is of good quality. Windsor Smith is one to follow!

Simply an inspiring picture book and good solid writing as well. I'm sure I'll enjoy this for many years. I'll also be planning using a LOT of the ideas for the next real estate makeover. Thank you, Windsor Smith.

I debated whether to rate this book as 5 stars or 4. Eventually the beautiful photos and the inspiring text won.The main problem with this book is that for all of her talk about making rooms usable spaces the photos feel staged and not so usable. Several times I noticed a beautiful room with occasional tables too far away so that they wouldn't be usable for whoever was sitting there. There was one room where she mentioned the piano was moved to the center of the room so that the room might be used more but I failed to understand how having a sofa placed so you are sitting staring at the piano would make me want to go in the room and sit there.These are just a few examples but I enjoyed reading her text and the photos are scrumptious

I have such a design crush on Windsor Smith. I believe it really started when she did that gorgeous, pink, living room on the cover of House Beautiful. Then, of course there was the fantastic kitchen, with all the light, large table that you could just feel people gathered around; but, it was still equiped for a serious cook to whip up some culinary ecstasy.Her book did not disappoint me in any way. In fact, if anything it only reaffirmed my crush.I truly do enjoy seeing what Windsor Smith will be "creating" next in beautiful interiors.

As expected

Initially I was disappointed but I slowed down, read each and every small note, took time to truly look at the wonderful photographs (many of which I recognized from various magazines) and now I can post a review. My only disappointment was how brief the comments/notes are. Even in the rarified air that Windsor Smith breathes a beautiful photograph really isn't enough. I like to learn from these delightful books so a little 'back story' makes it more interesting. For instance, the types of problems that can arise when you are managing projects at the high end of the market (even if price was not an issue for the owners), it would be interesting to read that the original budget for "Older House X" ended up running 45% over the usual 25% factored into the budget for the unexpected). I loved the book and will revisit it often.

Beautiful photos, book shows how to incorporate black into a room while making it relevant, current and stunning. Other useful tips are using unusual items for a focal point or conversation piece. A magnificent piece of reference for those who want to decorate classically, yet uniquely.

Windsor's work is beautifully photographed in this gorgeous book. Her eclectic style mixes both contemporary and traditional furnishings to create very livable, inviting and chic environments. I would highly recommend it.
