Great single AA headlamp with a warm white Cree and cool white flood
It has 2 color temperatures, warm white for the Cree spotlight and cool white for the floodlight function using 2 SMD LED's.Unlike other low budget headlamps, this one does not drain the battery while it's turned off like some $6 range Sunree headlamps are known to do.It uses one AA battery, so it doesn't require a lot of spares, the run-time I have not verified yet, but the Cree on low has a longer run-time at 35 Hrs than the 20 hrs on low for the floodlight SMD Led's.So, with 2 light temperatures to choose from, it's hard not to love the versatility of this headlamp for all sorts of different nighttime and dark activities. It has SOS in the Cree spotlight mode, (50 hrs) and a rapid strobe setting under the Floodlight setting, (for 74 hrs if you're so inclined to wear a mobile party light on your head). You can get this headlamp elsewhere for under $20, just search the brand title, it's easy to find, I don't dare say where as Amazon may refuse my review if this advice cuts into their sales by pushing customers away from their spot, but I did see another seller selling this model for around $100, it's good, but not that good.Another important function for me, is the snugness of the battery door, this one's much better than most headlamps that use a variable thickness tab, that usually means if you buy a cheap headlamp, expect to have the headlamp slip away from the battery door and slam into the bridge of your nose and depending on if the headlamp has a metal focusing tube, expect a deep cut on your nose at an inopportune time when you need illumination, not facial lacerations. The headband isn't too small either, so if you have a large American brain bucket like me, it won't be too tight and it's comfortable and doesn't have that cheap Chinese headband odor that some Chinese headlamps are famous for.The max Lumens indicated on the package is 134 Lumen in the high Cree mode, the highest setting for the SMD floodlamp is 31 Lumens, ignore the Amazon listing that states "1000 Lumens" is incorrect, now the difference in the Cree and the SMD Led's may seem like a lot, but the color temperature of the cool white flood mode more than makes up for the Lumen difference being less than 100 Lumens in light intensity than the cree on high.
