Composite Materials: Step-by-Step Projects (Wolfgang Publications)

John Wanberg's book Composite materials: Step by Step Projects is a very good book for garage technology. This is the fourth in a series. Start at the beginning with John's Composite Material: Fabrication handbook #1,#2 and#3. The sub title states: composite garage series. Which is perfect for the home bound builder. John tells what composites are about,,gives you list of the tools you need, detailed instructions and some projects. Start with book one and build up your skill level and confidence. Don't get discouraged, it takes some practice. I have made some hood blisters, a hood scoop, a bike fender and a tail light housing. I will now buy a vacuum pump for bagging parts to make the top half of a Model A Ford hood and radiator shell. I will try to make these out of carbon fiber. My advice is start with fiber glass. It is much cheaper than carbon fiber. You are going to make mistakes. Build up your skill level before using carbon fiber. Find a spot to do this work and read all the safety material provided in the books.

I ended up ordered book #1,#2 and #3 after quickly flipping through this book. Many thanks to Mr. Wanberg for now i can proceed with my next skill building activity.

Excellent publication for someone new to composite materials, its not a scientific book but gives some interesting and valuable information which along with this authors other books will provide me with a foundation to start so serious work on my GFRP boat.

I LOVE this book. I like that it includes the use of 3D printing as a template for the carbon fibre part

Given a lot of thought to Carbon Fibre/Glass Fibre material finish, this Book gives an insight in practical terms, chapter and verse on HOW TO; what NOT to do; Special precautions. Will write further review after completing first job!
