Fun story with lots of twists and turns!
Rhi is the daughter of a mob boss. He rules his corner of the world and the people around him are pawns to be used—this includes using his own daughter and wife to get ahead. Xavier is the son of a woman who works for Rhi’s father, and he and Rhi (short for Rhiannon) basically grow up together. They are best friends when they are young, but her dad doesn’t like that at all, because he can’t control Xavier. There are all sorts of twists and turns and unexpected happenings in this book. It’s quite interesting how things end up. Helpers and allies appear from unexpected places, and the ending will surprise many. This is an original story in intriguing ways, and one that is an enjoyable read, with good pacing and excellent tension. Wow!

3.25 could’ve-been-more-detailed stars
I was loving so many aspects. But I didn’t care for the quick-scene changes and the plot holes. I found myself scratching my head or rereading scenes to make sure I didn’t miss anything. It could’ve used some angst.Rhiannon and Xavier have been best friends since they were 8 and 10, respectively. His mom works for her family, which means he’s considered “low class.” I actually liked the chapters when they’re kids. We get chapters of when Rhiannon is 8, 12, 14, then 17 ish before they’re separated. During these years, we see the connection they had, the genuine love and friendship they shared❤️, even the abuse they endured because of her father🥺. I wasn’t too concerned about how fast these chapters moved (I wouldn’t have minded details though). When she’s 17 she goes to prom, with another guy, but she just keeps thinking about Xavier. He’s always been able to get into her room, and he’s there when she gets home. They share their first kiss and he messes it up by being mean🤬. She tells him to leave and he goes home to find his life has changed. Then he disappears from her life.Luckily, she enjoys her life. She goes to college, loses her v to a man (she only does it twice) and then it’s 10years later. (She’s 27 ish and he’s 29 ish). She’s supposed to get married to another man, but she doesn’t want to. She doesn’t wanna live the mafia/corrupt life. So as she’s running away, Xavier crosses her path and abducts her.Now. I’m all for abducting the woman you want😈💅. At this point, I was enjoying myself, hoping we got information about why he’s been gone for ten years and what he’s been doing, why he treated her like ish when they kissed. And, in Rhi’s defense, she’s always had affection for Xavier. Sure. He’s been keeping tabs on her for years, but he needed to act quicker. But she’s angry at him for never keeping in touch. I expect more. She says she’s going to give him a hard time and then she gives in too easily. Like. Every. Single. Time. This guy left your life for ten years and everything’s okay and fine and dandy?? Nahhh… demand answers girl 👏🏻🙈. Plus, the scenes kept changing, chapters ending quickly, then suddenly we’re somewhere else. The whiplash was real here 😐.I appreciated his dirty mouth though 🥵🔥. When he ties her up in the kitchen and asks her what do you do in a kitchen (she says cook) and he clarifies that you eat… well, he sure does 😅💦. They finally have smexxx at about 65%. It was 🔥🥵. But also cold since he basically tells her to get dressed after. And the continuous this way. Short chapters with not too many details. Which means that there were plot holes I wish were filled in. And the climax scene happens, I didn’t see it coming. I felt betrayed. And even when everything is kind of explained to her, it didn’t account for a lot of things.Listen. I can suspend belief while I’m reading books, but not to the extent that I’m wondering how we went from A to B 🤔or the lack of explanations given to allow things to make sense. Heathen when she asks Xavier for explanations, he doesn’t always provide them. I didn’t like that. Many things felt rush. It could’ve been better with some angst 🤷🏻♀️.There were a lot of things I liked, but many things that I wish it had. Even though it’s my fear, I don’t consider it dark.⚠️ safety squad ⚠️

Taken.
I loved this book. The characters were absolutely awesome and the story was I tense, unexpected and fun. Great book for a rainy day when you're all snuggled in and want something hot.

I liked it
The concept of the story, I think is great. You don't get a whole long story though, with lots of description and running of the story. Each chapter is like clips of scenes that don't drag on and on. Each chapter is significant in the story, but nothing is explained until the end. Reading how the book and characters came to be is actually pretty cool.

An unwilling Mafia princess trapped by a life she never wanted and the boy she once loved
Logan Chance is a new to me author, but if Taken is any indication, I need to grab more of his books and read them soon! This story is filled with questions and answers that just spawn more questions, secrets and lies, and a helluva twist I didn't see coming.Rhiannon is an unwilling Mafia princess who has been living in a gilded cage for her whole life. By the time she reaches her teenage years, she is horrified to figure out exactly what his job really is. Her family is lavish in its spending to maintain a certain status and appearance, but her father rules with an iron fist and cruelty. Her only childhood friend is Xavier, the son of her family's maid, and they are inseparable despite her father's attempts to keep them apart. As they get older, friendship develops into stronger feelings on her part, but it seems to be one-sided- at least to her inexperienced eyes. Her father sinks to a new low by taking out his anger on Rhiannon while Xavier watches as a punishment to him for caring about Rhi and staying in her life. One final unforgivable act by her father finally causes Xavier to snap and sends him on a path of revenge that takes him out of Rhi's life with no explanation and no goodbye.Ten years later, Rhiannon is still a prisoner in her own life. She was allowed to go to college but her father ruined that for her too. She has spent her entire existence controlled by one man after another and she is on the verge of being trapped in an arranged marriage when she sees a chance to escape. She never expects to be thwarted by the her former best friend, but Xavier bears little resemblance to the boy she fell in love with and now she is held captive by yet another bossy and controlling man...Remember what I said about secrets, lies and nothing being what it seems? Well get ready for the real ride to begin! Xavier's behavior and motives are a constant question mark for her, and neither one if them is happy about the attraction that sizzles between them. She doesn't want to still want him, and he never deviates from his carefully laid plans - until she comes back into his life. Unless he levels with her, Rhiannon will do anything to finally find freedom and life that is her own. They definitely heat up the pages before that deadly cat and mouse game comes to a surprising head that threw me for a loop! All in all, Taken was a great read that kept me flipping the pages (and fanning myself more than a few times) from start to finish!

Xavier and Rhiannon are meant to be.
I am fairly new to this authors books so Im wondering and asking myself “ what took you so long?” I enjoyed this immensely and I loved the relationship between X and R , loved reading their back story and their friendship from kids to adult. Beautiful written book and steamy too. Circumstances separated them for a while but you knew they belonged together. Another tick ☑️for me is the fact we get both p.o.vs. Always a winner for me. I am ready for book 2 now. Thank you Logan Chance I salute you for keeping me so invested in this story.

LOVED IT!
*REVIEWING FOR ROCK HARD ROMANCE*'One day I'll take you away from your father and all things bad'~XavierWhat to say about this without giving all that much away??Originally this was a part of this author's newsletter-a mini adventure that reader's in his FB group could decide the who/what/theme would be,which came to a stop, when Logan had to concentrate on other stories...the demand for more won out,and he has now created a full length tale, which has evolved into what I can only describe as one hell of a MINDF*** of a story!!Told in DUAL POV'S and with a background into Rhiannon and Xavier's as childhood best friends, with some humor, some heartache, leading onto a time of separation before re-connecting in such a way that makes the story go in a direction I did not see coming, Taken is full of twists and turns, with secrets and lies from the past, plus the obvious heat between both leads adding to the journey along the way to a WTF couple of moments-once I started it I couldn't put it down!I'll not say any more, but I LOVED IT !

GRIPPING MAFIA ROMANCE READ!
An excellent story that had me hooked from the beginning! As the story unfolds I was on the edge of my seat with the unexpeceted twists and plots you don't see coming! This story begins with points of their childhood and immediately you are aware of the special friendship between Rhiannon and Xavier but can see from early on there's more between them but then her best friend Xavier leaves with no explanation and Rhi learns to move on without him, living in a dark underworld she hates. But when they are reconnected 10 years later its under the least expected circumstances when Xavier kidnaps her and is out for revenge on her father. Whilst been kept by him their desire for one another cannot be denied and true feelings are unravelled but Xavier needs to remember the reasons he's doing all this.... she;s also desperate to get away and escape not understanding the truth behind whats happening.....a true love story in the world of crime lies betrayal and revenge!I look forward to future releases like this as well as your normal genre!

Absolutely brilliant.
I absolutely loved this. This is my first book by this author and won't be my last. The story takes you from the beginning when Rhiannon and Xavier were friends as kids and moves through the years pretty quickly giving you a background about them.Time moves on and Rhi is trying to escape her father's clutches without much success until Xavier re-apperars into her life.I loved all the characters and hope there are more books to come like this one and a follow up would be lovely.

Fabulous and sexy read
I have read some of Logan Chance's other books and am so glad he has tried this new genre as he has brought out a brilliant first book about a mafia princess and her best friend. I loved the way Xavier and Rhiannon were with each other and loved the story which started when they were 10 and 8 respectively and which gave an insight into their lives and characters. Nice the way the story unfolded in years and the many twists and turns in their lives. Loved the secrecy and the intrigue throughout the book and the many twists and turns to make this a fabulous story. Please Chance do write more stories like this as I am sure your fans will love it. I cannot recommend this book highly enough and will be read again and again.
