New Extended Replacement Laptop Battery for HP Compaq Pavilion dv7 dv7-1000 Series

When the "first" battery arrived it was defective and would not charge. I contacted the seller and they offered to replace it and did so. The second one arrived and it worked fine. However, I had to pay to ship the old one back at my expense. I offered to dispose of it but the seller insisted I have to ship it back. This of course resulted in greater expense and hassle for my purchase. I would not recommend this seller for that reason.

The item was well packaged and arrived very promptly. Unfortunately after following the instructions on charging and discharging the battery twice. I find less than a week later the battery is failing to last past 2 hours to power system even on middle to less than middle LCD screen brightness and no programs running.The battery also shows 100% charged but as soon as I removed the charger, it says 83% and if I re-apply the charger it jumps back to 100%.The battery is great at providing a lift to the rear of my DV7 laptop and helping to cool the system. I expected the battery given it is much larger than my old battery to last a least 3 maybe 4 hours but not under 2 hours.I feel it is defective and contacting seller to await response on request for replacement without having to incur return shipping charges.Will update but for now 2 stars as item did not last a week without the charging level issue and lack of power durability popping up.UPDATED 01/17/2012:I read the reviews and for the price (middle of the range) I thought I could not go wrong. I was wrong. Battery came well packaged and I followed the recharge/discharge instructions. All seemed well but I knew it was not quite well as the battery lasted only 3 hours which given its larger capacity should I think been a bit more.Over the next week the battery would indicate 100% charged but then removing the charger it would immediately indicate 80 to 83%. Then it lasted under 3 hours then 2 hours then...Well now with a "fully charged battery" and charger removed, the battery quickly drops from 100 to 80 to 50 then shuts laptop off a few minutes latter in sleep mode.I contacted the company several times US ElectricKing and while they were willing to e-mail a prepaid mailer they never indicated when I would get a replacement. I waited for that answer and all they kept saying was to return for testing. I then went through Amazon and issued a refund.Finally they e-mailed me saying that I must send item back for testing then after testing they will ship replacement if necessary. But unfortunately they then said as I filed a claim they cannot do that and to keep the battery. Wow I get to keep a paperweight!I am sure others get a good battery but I feel this company's lack of timely responses, poor QA to even send such a bad battery is an indication that they just send out units and hope they work and if not then request them back and maybe ship replacement all the while you are left hoping.

This was purchased to replace the Laptop Battery on my 17 Inch HP Compaq Pavilion DV7 . The Laptop was originally ordered directly from HP to my specifications. The pleasant surprise was to get the "Extended' version. I ordered using the product number on the original battery. If you still have it just verify the model number, usually a sticker on the original battery and it will be fine.Since this is a extended life model, it is taller (but will fit in the same cavity under your laptop) and so will not sit flat on your desk but will elevate your laptop about half an inch under the monitor when you open the laptop. In my opinion, this is a good thing, because it allows more air beneath your laptop to partially alleviate the heat created.It is powerful, though I obviously do not yet know how long it will last. The price on Amazon is less than 1/3 of the cost of an original equipment replacement from the manufacturer, so you can not go wrong price-wise. As to the transaction, the battery was shipped the day after I ordered it and I received it in four days. In my opinion, it is a very good value.

My original battery lasted ('til it completed went dead) almost 7 years. The new batt. lasted about two hours and twenty minutes when I first received it and went throught several charge-discharge cycles to calibrate. My famly uses this computer for about an hour daily during weekdays and less on weekends, mostly on AC power. I just tested unplugged and used it on batt only to test. A little over a week later the battery last only two hours now, processing nothing heavy - only word processor, emails, web surfing, etc. I know it comes with a warranty but I am keeping my eye on it for a while longer.Definitely it does not have "EXTENDED" capacity. My regular original battery lasted long than this. Another case of "you get what you pay for".10/2/2013 from 100% charge down to 5% in 1 hr 25 min and the message on the screen says it is not charging. I rebooted my notebook; still the same - "5% charge not charging. I will have to contact the seller for replacement or for return.12/26/2013 The battery lasts about 20 minutes before my notebook shuts down. Weekly average run-time on battery is less than 30 minutes at the most - mostly in suspended mode.

Overall, this battery doesn't perform well, particularly in the long run. You might get 15 minutes out of it, 20 if you go to power saver before it kills the computer and you lose everything. You might get slightly more with an SSD and wireless/bluetooth turned off but it really is a shame. It seemed like such a good deal. If you're not going to unplug your computer for more than 10 minutes at a time, it's great. Otherwise, just get a new laptop...preferably NOT HP.

My laptop battery died, and a replacement Battery at Batteries Plus cost $99. Wanting a better deal, I decided to order this battery since it was so much cheaper.The staff at Batteries Plus checked my adapter when I brought my laptop in to price out a new battery, and my laptop runs on AC power alone, so I know my adapter isn't the problem.While my laptop would run off this battery, it would not take a charge! I tried troubleshooting a few methods (updating devices, etc) but it just refused to charge. I will be returning this item ASAP. Thank goodness Amazon will refund my money!Don't waste your time and money on this battery- it may be cheap- but you get what you pay for!
