Few countries have a history that can be as captivating as what Egypt has.
Miss Hughes works her magic once again in this latest DVD of hers. The Nile is a series that is full of entertaining and educating knowledge. And escapism. Escapism is most important. As an armchair traveller I get so much pleasure from watching other landscapes and it's peoples. I wish I could travel but being a carer prevents me from doing so. This sort of thing is the best I'll get. Rick Steve's Europe is a good channel on YouTube for any armchair traveller like myself. His work is almost on par with what Miss Hughes does with her travels and tales of foreign lands. Keep up the good work Miss Hughes. It will always be most welcome :) x

Sean Bean is not n this
The product The Nile dvd is shown as having Sean Bean and cast, this is totally wrong. This cast is the cast of Frankenstein Chronicles and absolutely nothing to do with this documentary. I was fooled thinking Sean Bean was in it! I have notified Amazon 4 times today, but thus far the site is still wrong...

A most informative trip.
I really loved the DVD. It was worth buying a multi regional to view it on. It is very educational and informing if you enjoy ancient Egyptian history. Bettany gives you a first hand sight-seeing look down the river Nile and shows you the historical landmarks along its shores.

Journey into history
This is a wonderful journey down the Nile in the excellent company of Miss Hughes. She teases out the odd gems and side stories that make it very interesting. We actually completed this journey some years ago so it brought back all those memories.

The nile in a nutshell
Very good coverage and summary of the region. I've just come back from Egypt and thoroughly enjoyed this program. Wish her companion program on Egypt's top 10 was also available.
