Review: Great Strings! - I've been using Elixirs since I bought a Taylor years ago. I used to just use them on my acoustics because the sounded amazing, but now I use them on both my acoustics and electrics. These strings go great on a Taylor T-5 or a Les Paul. Yes, they are heavier gauge as the other reviews pointed out, and the G string is a wound G. Heavier gauge and a wound G can make solos more difficult if you're bending strings, but I've had no problem adjusting. They last forever, sound great, and desertcart has them at a great price. I really can't say enough about Elixirs.

I was a long time D'Addario player but after playing Elixirs, I dont think I'll go back. I've noticed greater longevity with the strings. They don't rust and they retain their tone much longer than other strings I've used. My guitars have Floyd Rose bridges and I've noticed these strings tend to remain in tune better than other strings I've tested. Recently I purchased an ESP KH Jr guitar with a fixed bridge. I was having a heck of a time tuning this guitar and keeping it in tune. Additionally the tone of the guitar was quite muddy on the low end. I put some 12 elixirs on it and both problems were solved. It stays in tune now and the heavier guage seems to have tightened up the Bottom end.

**Q: what size strings would you guys recommend for a beginner that has no experience whatsoever with any kind of instrument Any answer I will appreciate**
A: The smaller the gauge, the thinner the strings are. Usually, people refer to them as "9s, 10s, 11s and sometimes 12s." That refers to the high E string (the smallest one) at 0.009mm thick, 0.10mm thick, 0.11mm etc... If you're a beginner, 9s will be the easiest to play, but you may be better off using 10s right from the start so you can build up some strength. But you don't want playing to be uncomfortable. To be honest, the best way to learn and to gain finger strength would be by playing acoustic guitar

**Q: Would the heavy ones work good on a hollow body guitar?**
A: Yah, they should. Are you upping or changing gauge? If so the heavier gauge might throw off your guitar set up. I use the 11's or 12's in standard on everything from my tele to my acoustic, so they should sound and work well. Just make sure you're set up to handle whatever gauge you throw at it.

I have been using Elixir Strings on my acoustic for ever. I got a PRS Guitar a little over a year ago and Just changed the strings and they sound Amazing. They are bright and feel good when playing. I got a heavy gauge for jazz music that I'm working on and I just Love the sound I'm getting. And the strings last a really long time.
