Regardless of what kind of steel it is it arrived razor sharp and while I haven't used this one much I have put plenty of time on the other one. It held its edge for a reasonable amount of time. It wasn't that easy to sharpen but its doable. With the funny angles of this blade it may present some challenging sharpening which is why I haven't used it much. I put it in rotation of my edc blades because of its size, design and it ruggedness. This thing is a tank in the knife world. It deploys quickly, locks up solidly and I'm 100% confident it can handle anything I ask of it. I just love this knife with all of its angles and beautiful finishing. Only complaint is alot of sharp edges on blade spine gibbing and handel too. Noz overly bad but still very noticeable.
