"Professional" in the title is misleading.
In the face of so many positive reviews I felt compelled to point out some of the defects in this book.The book does not cover C++. It tells you how to write C using a C++ compiler. It doesn't start to consider topics which allow C++ to be used in an object oriented way. Worse still some of the comments in the book are the antithesis of modern best practices. Since so much of the C++ language is missing the author could surely have left out the Goto command. It is now 47 years since Dijkstra published his paper "Go To Statement Considered Harmful" so this is not even just a modern best practice. Goto should only be used by professional drivers on a closed course.If you are in a situation where you must learn how to write a little bit of C in the fastest possible time, and you don't care about becoming a professional programmer, this book could be useful, especially at the Kindle price.

Basic Introduction to C
For the price (at the time it was $20.98), I would not recommend this book. It covers only introductory material, and (as one user pointed out) mostly C in C++. There really isn't much C++ in this book; C is the base language, and a proper book on C++ would cover the object-oriented facets of C++. Another thing I didn't like about this book, was that the formatting was off. You would have arrows (in diagrams) that were trying to point to something, but were offset to much and pointed at something else; it's not professionally made.If you are looking to get your feet wet in C programming, you could probably find all the information in this book online. For the price I bought it at, it's certainly not worth it.
