Glad I ignored the prior reviews!
This is fantastic!! It does exactly what it says. I have tried both the foil that came with the Glaminator and my Minc foil, and both worked beautifully. Honestly the best foil quality. I'm so glad its replacing my Minc.

Worth it
Saved so much money by buying this instead of a minc! It does everything I need it to.A variety of foil brands, even holographic heat transfers.

Put a little bling in your crafting
This little machine is so much fun to craft with. I used it for gift tags and they turned out beautiful.

What is the trick.
I bought this to add foil to my crafts. I got copies at Office Depo in black and white with a printer that has toner. I used the hot foil they sent with the machine. I used the carrier sheet. I had the button pushed to the star. Not one piece of foil stuck. I really had high hopes for this. Anna Griffin demonstrated one on HSN that looked like it worked wonderfully. It was $40.00 more expensive but I could tell no difference in the way it was suppose to work.

Great Find
♥ ♥ ♥ Tthis machine works really well, but I had to return it. I tried to foil vellum and had no luck but when I tried to foil regular paper the results were amazing. I am not sure if it was me or the machine. I did try to find youtube videos for help and it was limited. The price was still perfect for anyone who wants to us for standard use.♥ ♥ ♥ Thank you!

Great for foiling but you can do the same with a $20 laminator
I have been foiling with a $20 generic lamintor I got from Target for several years now but it has started to not work properly. I decided to try a Foil laminator specifically geared towards a use of foiling thinking it might be better. What I've found is that a $20 laminator works just as well.If you are new to foiling be sure that your projects are printed with a laser printer. They emit tiny particles of plastic which the laser melts onto the paper as opposed to tiny particles of ink. Then when it's run through the laminator with foil, the plastic melts adhering to the foil and the parts without the laser printing don't adhere at all leaving you with a foiled design.Sometimes with both my old laminator and this one you actually need to run the design through the laminator twice to get a good result. If this is your fist time be sure to start with a few practice pieces before you do something you really want that way you'll be able to get a feel for it.I do appreciate that this comes with some gold foil but the foil they give isn't the best foil, it's also not the worst. I'd recommend buying some additional foils though especially sine what it comes with isn't much. Be aware that some foils are a little thicker and may require additional times through the laminator to fully adhere to the ink and release from the foil's backing.Since it works well and doesn't have any problems plus comes with some foil I have to stick with 5 stars, it does exactly what is says it will but I will say you can also find cheaper machines that will work as well.

Good, but some limitations
I used to use foil quite a while ago when I did desktop publishing at work. I was excited to see this Xyron machine and thought it would be a lot of fun for my home projects, and I am usually happy with Xyron products. I found it has some limitations, and I especially don’t like that I couldn’t foil just part of the printed page as I did years ago.The gold foil that is supplied with the machine is very nice, but it is in a roll fastened with three good-size pieces of tape. They used the wrong type of tape. It was very difficult to remove, and it left most of the adhesive behind on the foil. I tried rubbing the adhesive off the foil and more or less gave up and cut parts off and threw them away.Setting up the machine and using it is a breeze. The instructions are short and easy. I had a page where I wanted gold foil on a graphic at the top of the page. The rest of the sheet had printing on it. I put the page in the carrier sheet and placed the foil over the graphic and turned the machine on.It takes a few minutes to warm up, much longer than my Fellowes laminator. There is a clear indicator that the machine is warming and not ready. It beeps and the indicator changes when ready. I made sure I had set the Glaminator for the Foil setting and fed the page through. The gold foil graphic came out very nice. It looks terrific. However, I inexplicably had a splotch of gold foil above it, I have no idea why as the area was clean and clear. But the weirdest part is that it removed most of the text on the rest of the page. It all transferred to the carrier page. I had no idea this couldn’t handle anything on the page other than the area being foiled, unless there is just a problem with my laser printer toner or my machine. The carrier page had all the text on it, and I had to wet it with soap and scrape it off with my fingernails. What a mess.FYI, this machine also does cold and hot laminating, but no laminating pouches are included. I have not tested that as I have a professional-style laminator at my home. This is probably a good machine for those who could accept the foil limitations and want a laminator as well. For me, it’s a machine that would be used just to add foil to graphics, and for that it takes up too much space.

Very cool
I'm so excited to have gotten this. Very easy to set up. Just print on your printer and then run thru this. The results are super fun! I love it
