Does not mount securely to standard Picatinny rail
The function of an aiming laser requires secure mounting. The Beamshot uses two sliding aluminum clamping plates which squeeze the sides of your gun's Picatinny rail, while also squeezing the sides of the polymer (FRP) lamp body to hold it securely. As the screws which draw these plates together are tightened, the clamps tighten reliably against the Picatinny rail, yet there remained a small lateral gap to the lamp body. It appeared as if the polymer lamp body itself, at the clamping interface, was just a bit too narrow. This meant that even at full installation torque, the lamp was able to freely wiggle left and right. The effect on laser aim point was 10" at 20 feet. Thinking it might be an out-of-spec Picatinny rail on my steel Hudson pistol (rail width = 0.8335"), I remounted the light to an aluminum AR forend rail (0.833"). Same story. For reference, MIL-STD-1913 (AR) defines rail width as 0.835->0.830 in.Next I tried a standard polymer (FRP) Magpul rail section (0.8105"). The Magpul rail is twenty thousandths narrower than the Picatinny spec, and the Beamshot fit securely. Finally I mounted the light on a polymer S&W Shield 2.0 380EZ (rail = 0.8245"), and there was an acceptably slight amount of lateral play, which could likely have been eliminated by torquing the Beamshot screws closer to their yield range. If you have a polymer-railed gun that measures less than 0.824" the Beamshot light should work fine.Other than this crucial issue, the Beamshot light/laser combo seems well-designed. The shrouded buttons are less susceptible to inadvertent presses, with a distinct tactile feel and texture to facilitate positive identification in the dark. The polymer lamp body is smooth to reduce hangups. Lateral lamp/laser arrangement places the laser closer to the boreline than other "laser under light" legacy designs. The light is adequately bright for indoor use at night. The laser shows up clearly within the light's "hotspot." The stainless steel mounting screws appear to be high quality, but the small thread size would make me want to leave it on the gun all the time, instead of removing it daily as one could do with a quick disconnect style.

The quality is just not there.
I had really high hopes for this laser/light. It has been a great disappointment. The first time at the range it was spot on target, and with no adjustments. Since then , it has been a nightmare to operate. It is difficult to zero now and just recently the on/off switch broke completely off. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
