Journey through stars in the comfort of your home.
What an amazing book. Big and Beautiful. It has stunning images with just the right amount of information to help us easily understand something as complex as the cosmos and deep space objects.I read about nebulae and stars that I had never read about earlier. And the beautiful images tied all the information together in a pleasurable and fulfilling read. Also. The star charts at the back are a boon for backyard astronomers.Get away from the computers and enjoy learning as it was meant to be!Totally recommended.

all are awesome! How to compare the sizes of Antares
Five stars is not enough for praising this book. It is lavishly illustrated -- every page -- but it also takes the reader on a systematically progressive trip from the neighborhood of the solar system to the brink of the observable universe: a time travel of at least 14.5 billion light-years (give or take a few). Of the graphics, some are methodologically interesting in how they visualize the significance the author is trying to illustrate, all are awesome! How to compare the sizes of Antares, Betelgeuse, our star (the Sun) in one 4x4 frame? Schilling found it!The journey is comprehensive, touching on every aspect (that I know of) of known and nascent issues in astronomy. Buy it, because even the upcoming James Webb telescope will not make the Schilling pictures obsolete!

many beautiful pictures in this large format book
This book is not a real deep read on deep space but it is very enjoyable. The many, many beautiful pictures in this large format book, with interesting pieces of information about each, make it a great casual read about the universe.

Wonderful book! The black pages on white text and all the pictures are very easy on the eyes and bring deep insightfulness to our understanding of the cosmos in simple summary form. These kind of books are absolutely stunning! I wish they would make even more for different topics!
