Hopeful
I suspect many are like me and bought this watch even though we wanted something else. The original Swiss Army watch by Victorinox is exceptionally beautiful, but at a premium price (retails at three times the price). But the Wenger is a good substitute.I like what I've seen so far, but I'll have to wait. The first watch I got had a loose minute hand that wobbled from side to side as the watch was rotated. I'm pretty sure that's not normal. Note: I'm not talking about the same phenomenon that affects the seconds hand on nearly every digital analog watch. Those are notoriously wobbly and misaligned even on very expensive marques. This watch is a little bigger than I'm used to (don't know what the reviewer below means by "small") at 41 mm, but I think it'll grow on me. Rolex has a standard of 35mm for their dress watches and Victorinox is about ideal at 38mm. But, hey...bigger is better, right? It sure is easy to read.Note that the watch pictured above is NOT the same watch that Amazon is shipping. You can see the actual model on Wenger's web site. The bezel is slightly bulkier and the numbers are larger and more blocky in appearance. The band is also different. I actually prefer the look of the one Amazon pictures, but that's not the one you're going to get.

Nice stylish watch, a little bit on the thick side
This is a very nice watch with good solid leather band, and easy to read numbers day and night. The operation is a typical pull out the crown for adjustment. I don't take it off to shower and assume that it is water resistant for everyday activities - no problem so far. I do intend to swim with it so we will see how that goes. My only complaint, and reason for 4 not 5 stars is the thickness of the watch - about 3/8ths of an inch thick from back to glass front. My old victronix was half that thickness. Anyway that thickness gives a very solid feel, which speaks to its categorization as a field watch as opposed to something a little more refined. But that is perhaps what people are looking for - it was just thicker than I expected.

Watch looks good, but couldn't keep it running...
1) As others have mentioned, the watch is big, but in the product specs it clearly says that the product case is 41 millimeters in diameter. That's 1 and 5/8 inches. So it is big, but the specs clearly state that.2) On the other hand, one of the pictures of the watch shows that it is just a hair over 25 millimeters (1 inch) wide. That pic is incorrect, and is actually of one of the other Wenger Classic Field Watches.3) If your wrist is bigger than 7 and 1/2 inches, then plan on getting a long band to replace the regular length band that comes with the watch. My wrist is 7 and 5/8 inches, and the band would only fit on my wrist in the last hole.4) NOW HERE IS THE PROBLEM: After setting the watch, I noticed two hours later it had lost five minutes. Major disappointment. I set it again, and this time paid attention to it. I noticed that when walking, setting the watch down on a hard table or counter top, etc., that sometimes the second hand would stop moving. Simply gently shaking the watch would get it moving again. Then I tried to reset it again. After resetting it and pushing the crown in, I noticed that just tapping the crown in some instances would stop it.So I reset it again, and gently laid it down and made sure it was still running. 24 hours later, it had lost 55 minutes.5) Here is the good part: I went back to Amazon.com, logged in, and returned the watch. Amazon as usual was very good about returning items, paying for the shipping and printing UPS labels for me.I gave to watch two stars because I do think it's a good looking watch. I realize it's a big watch, but that is why it looked good IMO and big watches are "in" and the norm these days for men's watches, unless you are getting a $20 lower quality watch. I looked for three weeks for watches before I ordered this watch, and most of the brands that sell $50 to $200 watches these days are 40-50 millimeters.I ordered another Wenger from Amazon after returning this Wenger Swiss Military Men's Classic Field Watch, model #72917. This time I got a Wenger TerraGraph, model #72785. Wenger Men's 72785 TerraGraph Black Dial Black Leather Strap Watch

Big surprising disappointment
Bought this watch for a three week trip to India. Liked the classic simple look and the brown leather band. Regrettably, it worked for about five weeks and then stopped. If I pull the stem out to reset the time and then push it in, the watch works for about a day before stopping again. This has gone on for a week now. As I am past my 30 day return period, I am debating whether, and the extent to which, I want to pursue the warranty coverage. I did not expect this problem with a Wenger product, and am surprised and disappointed.Save your money and try another watch, and perhaps another brand.

Indices not as bright as advertised
The marketing for this watch indicates "quick charge, high visibility" for the glow on the luminous hands and indices.Only the hands glow at a visible strength for more than a few seconds - in fact it lasts several minutes, but the REST of the indices, numerals etc. do not and are only visible even in total darkness for maybe 60 seconds.I recently learned that the only "glowing" type of watches that have strong and long-lasting visible glow are ones that use "Tritium tubes" for their glow illumination. The watch itself is nice enough and has a good look, but it's not the MIL-SPEC watch Wengers' marketing materials make it out to be.

Wenger Swiss Military Watcj
A good watch. The only complaint I have is that the second hand is not synchronized with the minute dots on the face dial (the second hand falls between the minute segments on the face)..However I just looked at my old swiss army watch (25+ years old) and its second hand is also not synchronized with theface minute segments. So I guess I have no real complaints. I do like the large face dial ( I've reached that stage in life where things that are large areare easier to read). Its very easy to read. And it just looks good.Weimartxn
