Warrell La Pipette Candy Licorice Pipes, Black, 60 Count

I bought these out of curiosity. I'd read about them in every single episode of Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache novels. I honestly had no idea what to expect except they were treated as some sort of welcoming gift in the books.When I got them, I thought they looked pretty unappealing in their individual cellophane bags. I tried one. It was pretty good. I had my wife try one. She agreed, they were pretty good. In the fullness of time I noticed that there the number of pipes left in the box had inexplicably increased. It turns out my wife had been sneaking them, and hid her "crime" with a replacement box. She told me I had to get them out of the house. So I took them to work and gave them to coworkers. They too came under the spell of these odd confections and would hover around my office looking to score another one. They didn't last long.The experience consuming one of these is pleasant enough, but it carries with it a desire for more disproportionate to the experience of having another. Magic?

I wish they had sold it in a smaller quantity, but I went crazy and got all 60. As a surprise gift for my husband who would compare every black liquorice to these Pipettes, I have to say I understand why. They are tasty and that is extreme coming from someone who doesn't like anise flavor. Shipping, packaging, delivery all good.

Received product within the 4 days; however, tried two pipes and they were hard and tasted old. Being a black licorice fanatic, that is totally unacceptable! I emailed them and was told a replacement box was on its way. Waited over a week and still no replacement. Emailed them again and inquired as to status and wanted a response....where is replacement and finally if not sent give me a refund. Finally after no response, Amazon refunded my money. I usually buy my licorice pipes locally but decided to order thru this company due to it's good rating. However, I would not recommend them after my experience -- two weeks to not receive my licorice and then have to go buy it locally anyway. Next time I will save myself the inconvenience and frustration and just go buy it locally....at least I know it will be fresh and not a stale, hard handy that has been sitting on a shelf for who knows how long, plus poor customer service. Who needs to be treated this way?????

Great candy licorice pipes. Soft and tasty. A good and mild licorice flavor. This big box went over well with my game group for our nerd weekend.

No comparison to the back licorice cigars that come from Canada

Quite a number of the pipes were broken in their individual wrappers and were not as fresh as I have had in the past.

This brings back a lot of memories from the past when this was sold in the stores where I live. They are non existent now and when I got my hands on these babies it felt like reliving the past. They were also fresh and couldn't ask for better!

A taste of yesteryear. Oh so good. My dad loved them. He is happy. Yes, he is 93. They are not overly sweet, and they are nice and long, just like a pipe. So worth the expensive cost.
