Seems pretty good.
This purchase was made for items to be put into Stock, so we havent used them yet, but we are plased with the simplicity of the product and the installation appears to be a breeze.

Cheap, easy insurance, a few reservations
Purchased this unit after one of our two water heaters failed and caused me $2,000 of damage. (Deductible is $2,200, who would have known??).Very easy to install, unlike the new water heater itself!I tested the unit on the bench before installation and all worked well. There seems a built in delay between close and open cycles - this makes sense but it would be nice to see this referenced in the instructions - it does not fill you with confidence when you press the button and nothing happens. The supplied transformer (wall wart) failed after less than a week and I only found this out by happening to touch the transformer and noticing it was stone cold (I had noticed it ran very warm when first installed). Tested the transformer and, sure enough, no output. Now, if (as I had) you put in batteries as emergency backup, you have no way of knowing that the power supply was not working.I feel that it would be a good idea to have green "AC ON" LED also to give another level of confidence in, what is after all a mission critical part.I do have a VERY positive feedback for the distributors of the product, Aqua Managers (not DIYControls that it was purchased from, they simply sent me the telephone number of the distributors).I contacted Aqua Managers about the transformer failure and a VERY helpful person, Bob Doerfler, had no hesitations about sending me a replacement and assured me that this was NOT a common failure.Testing the unit by dropping water on the sensor (or even just moistened finger) works flawlessly every time. Only time will tell if this continues to be the case. The valve itself appears to be very high quality, the electronic circuit is a typical Chinese built unit made of cheap components. However, as an electronics engineer I know that, if the electronics makes it past a couple weeks and the mechanical items are good, it's likely it will work for ever. So, I would recommend it (so long as the second power supply doesn't fail) and it certainly helps you sleep at night when you've had a water heater fail on you.

does what it's supposed to
We bought this when we had a new water heater installed. I made sure I bought the version that matched the size of our water heater incoming pipe. We tested it several times and it works like it's supposed to. The alarm is loud enough that we can hear it even from the second floor of the house if it sounds from the basement even with the door closed and boarded up behind it. It gives us more peace of mind if the water heater ever starts leaking. You can even connect it to your home alarm system if desired.

Worked at first but failed after one year
Easy installation but after just over a year, the automatic shutoff sensor quit working. A few months later, the open and close function stopped working altogether.

Floodstop
This is an excellent idea, and quite practical, but it is not UL approved, and therefore unacceptable in some areas. Check with your local inspectors befoe installing.

Great insurance against a flooded basement due to a leaky pipe.
I realized I needed something like this when a valve sprung a very tiny leak during a weekend away. Luckily, it only soaked a few boxes, and we didn't lose anything, but if we had this at that time, it would have shut off before it leaked all weekend. It's a solid-built valve, the motor turns on/off the water in just a few seconds, and the sensor is very sensitive. Love that it can have backup batteries in case of power failure, and that it has outputs for an alarm system (both normally open and normally closed). We're using this just after the city main shutoff valve as a whole-house solution. And since it's a full-pressure valve, it doesn't restrict the flow of water at all.

It works well but it doesn't stick with velcro adhesive pads.
The motorized flood stop valve appears to work well. It cuts off the flow of water completely, but you might want to clean the sensor strips with some alcohol before putting it into operation since there may be a light film of packing oil or something similar on it which prevents it from activating at times. My only complaint is with the Velcro (hook and loop) adhesive system for mounting the control unit. The adhesive backing is not very good and it sometimes falls off of smooth surfaces. This causes an intense banging sound and crash of the unit, batteries, etc. Otherwise, this is a good unit which appears to work as it is designed to work.
