Brief, good read - looks good on table
A few reviews on here disparage the book as 'Wikipedia lite' and 'not that informative'. However I think the book does exactly what it advertises - sheds light on the science behind coffee harvesting, roasting, and brewing. While I could've certainly found this information on the internet (what can't you find on the internet, really..), I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different methods of roasting and the processes behind it, etc. The book looks great, and I usually keep it open to a page near my coffee set up to remind me that coffee is more than just something you drink to wake up, and that the process from tree to cup is long and delicate.

Short, readable guide takes coffee brewing to the next level.
Really fun for a person who likes coffee enough to learn a little about what a serious expert thinks about the brewing process, without becoming a chemist. Strikes a perfect balance between the minutiae of technical science and simple kitchen tips. The book is short and the chapters are short, written in a conversational style for a lay audience. But, there's enough detail to stretch the knowledge of most casual coffee drinkers to the next level. Great gift. And, it definitely offers ideas for making a better cup of coffee, which is a practical benefit, not just theory.

Well written, incredibly informative
I cannot say enough good things about this book. If you are a coffee connoisseur (or pretend to be), this book with give you more knowledge about the bean than anything I have ever read. The illustrations are fantastic, the information is great, and it caused me to consume 10 CUPS IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. Caffeine not included.

Really Great Book
This is a great no-fluff book. Really explains the science behind coffee. I was truly impressed. I roast my own coffee that I buy on Amazon and this goes great with it!

Full of Great Detail
Very informative & perfect for anyone looking for a more in-depth & technical explanation of coffee and the brewing process. Out of the three coffee books I purchased, this was my favorite.

Quick and Easy
This book is a quick read but can also be used as a reference. There are other books that will go more in depth but this one is perfect for someone who has only recently gotten excited about coffee and wants to do more exploring.

Quality Intro to Brewing Basics
This quick read is the best introduction to the science and reasoning behind making coffee that I have read to date. Makes the brewing chemistry and physics easy to understand without delving too deeply into the specifics.

This book offers a really good intro to all the different factors that affect a ...
I bought this book when I got a job as a barista (after a seven year hiatus from the profession) and needed to brush up on my knowledge to impress the new boss! Also, I live in Nova Scotia where home espresso machines are not really available (unless you wanna pay a lot of shipping from elsewhere), and so I wanted to know how to get the most from my stovetop espresso makers and my french press. This book offers a really good intro to all the different factors that affect a coffee bean's flavour, from growing region, to drying method, to roast, to grind, to the type of brewing apparatus you're using. It has just the right amount of technical info that you can dip into if you wish or stay out of if you don't. Most importantly for me, it gives you the vocabulary tools to express what it is you want from a coffee, so when someone says "fruity, citrus" at you, you can actually understand what the hell they're talking about.

That perfect pot of coffee
Bought this for an idiot that knows nothing about making coffee thinking it will help him turn into the office brew master. Either he is illiterate or hasn't bothered reading it. Oh well.Great book. I learned alot from it before gifting it

Amazing Discovery
Don't be fooled by the size of the book. This book packs more theory than any so called local cafe training offers. It is open to the public! Training that most coffee company offers are just the technical side to it. I'm a barista for 4 years, this book have open my eyes in digging deep! It's all about the details of creating art

Great book packed with wonderful information but towards the back (reading on the Kindle app on my IPad) I noticed that some of the steps (line drawings) were absent.
