Clek Liing Infant Car Seat, Carbon

I just received my Clek Mammoth and I can’t wait until my baby is born next month to put him in it. I’ve been researching infant car seats for the last of couple months and have spent countless hours watching YouTube videos and reading blogs about car seat comparisons. We chose a Graco click connect 35 with our first kid and had no idea the most common brands of car seats are actually amongst the most dangerous when it comes to added chemical flame-retardants. We also learned about how a load leg attached to the base reduces the impact of a vehicle crash by more than 40%. In addition, Clek uses a rigid latch system. I don’t know why more companies don’t use a load leg with their bases or are not more concerned with the possible side effects of added harsh chemicals.I wanted a car seat that was free of chemicals and had a load leg with the base for the added safety. The Clek Liing (Mammoth) was one of only a handle on the market that fully fit the bill. Although this is the first infant car seat Clek has made, the company is already established and known for their amazing safety ratings with convertible car seats. It was a no brainer to purchase this seat when I found it on amazon and it was eligible for the 15% prime registry completion discount, making it cheaper than the Nuna Pipa Lite Lx (thanks Amazon!).The car seat was free of any smells straight out of the packaging and is overall pretty light in weight at 9 pounds. It feels extremely sturdy and installation was a breeze. The car seat can also be used without the base, which is very convenient since we don’t have to worry about purchasing a second base or having to re-install in another vehicle. This feature would also come in handy when traveling.The merino wool material is very soft and plush and the removable body support cushion for newborns up to 11 pounds is extremely soft and supportive. The insert has a kind of shelf that goes right under the baby’s bottom, which allows the baby’s shoulders to reach the top of the harness straps and places their head snugly between the head cushions. The mammoth material is merino wool, which is naturally temperature regulating and one of the main features I love since we live in a very hot and sunny region. Another feature that really like is the extendable canopy that also has a flap in the back to allow air to flow through mesh paneling.The only concern I have with the car seat is the overall width - it’s pretty narrow with the infant cushion insert. However, once the insert and head cushion are removed, there is definitely more space for a growing baby. The company claims the height and weight restrictions are up to 32” and 4-35 pounds, which is slightly more than some of the bigger named brands.Since the Liing was just introduced earlier this year, you won’t find very many online reviews. This is why I’ve decided to take some time and provide an extensive and honest review of the product. I’m hoping it will help other parents decide if this is right infant car seat or not. Love this seat! It’s stylish and the high quality wool material keeps my baby really cozy. So far is easy to clean. Clicks into the BabyZen Yo-yo stroller with adapters. It’s a shame he’ll only fit in this a few months. Only downside is it feels a bit heavy to lug around, but I do have a big baby so maybe it’s just him :)

I don’t have a bad thing to say about this so far. We are due in a few months so I will update once our babe is here, but just receiving the seat & base we are happy with it & it’s quality

Love this seat! Fits tiny newborn with insert. Easiest to install base I’ve ever seen. Great seat /design /engineering. highly recommend.

I read great reviews about this carseat and was so excited for it to arrive! Unfortunately, there are giant plastic warning labels right where the baby's head goes! Clek Customer support was very helpful and responsive and will be sending a new headrest without the same label placement. Apparently the label placement can vary by country, so this may only be an issue for customers in the US.Another issue is that it's absolutely impossible to fit your hand under the handle bar when the canopy is up. I was able to solve this by unzipping the canopy where it can extend to make a bit of a dip in the fabric and space for my hand. Another option is to remove the leather grip.As far as pros, customer service was extremely responsive! The seat is also very lightweight and extremely easy to attach and remove from the base. It was also relatively easy to install the base in both my husband's car with the LATCH system, and my car using the seatbelt. Although getting the load leg right is a little tricky.Overall, it's a very nice carseat. Lightweight, soft and chemical free fabric (for the Mammoth), and mostly manufactured in Canada (the insert in mine is made in china). Hopefully baby will like it too!

Out of the box, the plastic clip that held the straps together would not stay put. Had to contact service to get a replacement because there was an issue with it. Now the carrier wont release from the base, and we found that there was a manufacturing problem with the base that we have to get replaced. Really lost confidence in clek if they're putting out products with all these problems at this price point.

I usually don't write reviews or voice customer service complaints, but we bought the Liing for our newborn son. We started using it and a noticeable film of white powder appeared all over the canopy. Upon washing it (with alcohol, white vinegar, etc.), it only exasperated the issue. I reached out to customer service and was told that this is something that happens when the car seats don't undergo the pretreatment process (which in my opinion should happen to all seats before they're sold, but I guess that's not the case). I was given instructions on how to wash the canopy, which we attempted and only made things worse. I was also sent a replacement canopy with a youtube video on how to replace the part, which includes taking the whole seat apart and putting it back together. This whole process has been unacceptable, especially considering the amount of money paid for the carseat and that we had to go undergo this whole process taking care of a newborn. If I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased another brand.

White powdery film on car seat! Don’t waist your time ! I see another repelan had the same complaint with same resolution to wash canopy. T least they offered her a replacement, they did notTo me. Horrible customer service and satisfaction. Taking the canopy off is a pain and cannot do it easily without special tools. Who has a T20 screw driver laying around!
