PROC SQL: Beyond the Basics Using SAS, Second Edition Paperback – October 29, 2013

I bought this book specifically because it was touted as one of the books that was compatible with SAS OnDemand for Professionals. I had a really great experience using another book with OnDemand and assumed that this one would work the same way. Unfortunately, the data tables stored in the OnDemand environment do not match those in the book - particularly the 'Purchases' table, which is pretty important.Otherwise, the material isn't bad, but it isn't that great either. It's a good introduction to PROC SQL, but I already had a good understanding of databases in general from previous work with Access. Otherwise it may have been difficult to pick up a lot of the ideas presented in the text given how they are written and organized.

I have attended many of Kirk Paul Lafler's papers and presentations, and he is always a pleasure to listen to. Anyone who does not learn something from Kirk's papers were simply not paying attention.This new book is a pure wonder. Not only is it informative and enlightening, but it ready so beautifully that I was able to sit down and read through it, cover to cover, as if I was reading a novel. This should be on the bookshelf of anyone who uses PROC SQL.
