Extend the pole to the full extent... the pole separates from the handle. You will need to super glue it back in place but then, it won't collapse any more. Cute, but not practicle to use since you have to assemble everything (pole, reel, extend, run line, tie / put on line items and fish. No place to put a hook you want to leave on the line when not in use.Cute... but VERY cheaply made. Very much regret buying it. I'll glue all parts together so they don't collapse, make a device to hold the hook and leave it permanently assembled and HOPE the cheap thing doesn't break when I hook a small fish.

Great rod but the real is to cheap. So I swap it out to Lew's lazer lite spinning reel. Thats a $30 dollar reel so I had to grind the fitting handle to fit right. So far, it's been great. I have 3 star cause the real was cheap and the line is awful. Remember, you get what you pay for and don't complain to much. It's a great deal for small creek fishing or doing outdoor fishing just for fun. Would recommend.

The set is very flimsy. The rod is difficult to extend without pulling it apart and then equally as difficult to collaspe to store. Reel is not micro it's just small and cheap.

I buy these as pretty much a gag gift for my angler friends. The rod isn't too horrible for catching small species. The reel, while it works, is junk. Use it till it breaks and get another set. If it's worth it to you. It would be really cool if the reel seat on the little rod were actually a standard size. That way you could break the reel that comes with it and then replace it with a 10 sized reel that you actually like. Just a thought...
