So that is what I was doing wrong!!!
Prior to purchasing this book, I had attempted to install crown molding in two separate rooms. I read everything I could find on-line and in my Home Depot how-to books on the subject. But still I just could figure out why I wasn't able to get my joints to look good. In the end I cheated and bought some of those pre-made interior and exterior joints. After a ton of work the rooms looked ehhhh. In comes this book. After just spending ten minutes reading through the clearly laid out steps that the author provides, I found at least four things I had been doing wrong. It was as if a light bulb just went off over my head. The next day, using pre-painted pieces (great tip btw!!) my wife and I completely installed crown molding in a room with several funky corners. And guess what, it looks amazing.I am very happy with this book purchase. Its clear instructions and the tools provided unveiled what previously had been a real mystery.

For those of us with little or no experience
This book had the diagrams and pictures necessary for me to do the work. I would have wasted a lot of wood and time trying to figure out the correct angles on my own. Whith this book at my elbow, I could glance at a picture and see that I had the saw set correctly and the piece of wood placed the right way. I strongly recommed the book for people trying to cut molding for the first time. The angle measurement tools can be useful, but I whish they were built from better quality materials and larger scales that could be read from a distance.

Crown Molding Glory
Crown molding comes to life. Purchased this combination a few years ago and it has been well worth it. I have done many crown molding installations following this guide with amazing results. This takes the guess out of crown molding. Good with wood work you can do crown moldings with professional results.

Finally, help with Crown Molding Installation!
Initially, I found crown molding installation to be almost overwhelmingly difficult. It took a couple hours and lots of effort to "cope" an edge so the installation looked "acceptable". Our home has several areas where the ceiling was not perpendicular to the wall but is instead angled upward. There's another area where the molding would just have to "stop" mid-wall. The last two configurations had me totally stumped. Then I came across Wayne Drake's book. After reading it through, I was still a bit perplexed, but when I actually started cutting with the book as a guide, things really fell into place!I bought the package that included the true angle tools, and crown molding guides. The guides, which depict the proper orientation for left/right, inside/outside corners, and horizontal/vertical turns are VERY useful to "double check" your saw settings before you actually begin cutting expensive molding. The laminated miter and angle settings for the saw are also very easy to use. You can, with confidence, cut corners to fit precisely.Wayne took a skill and broke it down into a series of logical steps. In doing so, he made this aspect of woodworking safer and more enjoyable.Because of Wayne's book my project is turning out very well. As a consequence, my wife wants even more of the house finished with crown! That's a task I now feel up to tackling.

This book was pretty useless
This book was basically useless when it came to giving useful, usable information. The author spends a great deal of time going over angles, degrees and the like. It just doesn't have to be that complicated!!The useful piece of information I did get out of the book was to add 2 feet to each room's dimensions so you have enough material. Other than that, there are much more informative and usable sources of information on installing crown available. The book is also out of date when it comes to tools. For example, have you ever heard of a cordless or air-powered nail gun? How about a dual-bevel compound miter saw? This author has not, or at least does not metion them in his book. These items would make installing crown a lot easier and faster.Lastly, the True Anlge tools he sells are of limited use, too. They are very accurate in reading an angle, but they are made of thin, flimsy plastic and the ends of the tool droop when you are holding it up in a corner. The scale on the tool is so small it is impossible to read when you have the tool positioned in a corner. Using the lock screw is somewhat helpful, but it is difficult to do when you have two hands holding up the flimsy ends of the tool.My whole-house crown project turned out great, but no thanks to this book and the true angle tool. I would look elsewhere for instuction and look to Starret for a good protractor.

Square your saw!
I disagree with the review written by the woman who rated this book as zero/one. I am a woman and this seller has been very professional and helpful. This is a wonderful book. As the author states, you must follow the instructions and square your saw in all of the planes before you start any project! If you fail to do this, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO CROWN MOULDING FOR YOUR VAULTED CEILINGS or any thing else for that matter! The charts are excellent and will save you hours of calculation AND lots of money. If you are looking for a book about doing your own chair rail, molding, or building any project that requires compound miters - LOOK NO FURTHER! Order this book and the True Angle tools - you won't be sorry!
